Re: Hubcaps

Cut a piece of adhesive vinyl to go in the bowtie, and you'll never know that hole existed.

Nine Mile Falls, WA. He put it up online for $25 or $30 or best offer. I offered $20 plus shipping and he agreed. Figured it was a good price for a decent deluxe cap. No cracks on the rim, just the hole drilled through the middle.

Hmmmm....I didn't think of that. Ive got 5 on the truck now (side mount spare), and 3 for the trailer project. So it'll be a clock for now. But if I need it in the future....that may be a good option.

Looks very cool, but seems to be running a little fast.

Haha....right on. Really wish it didn't have the hole in it, but am glad that it still has a use. Thanks for all the compliments on the easiest project of the year so far.

I was joking, and now predict a run on those hubcaps for garage clocks.

Re: Hubcaps

How common are the '64-65 (? 66) GMC caps? They appear to be like the one in post 67 & the ones in post 77. I picked them up briefly but can't remember if they were definitely the clip style. I came across three at a locally owned store that sells/produces vintage furniture & such. They have patina & some dents which could probably be pounded out for the most part. Just wasn't sure if they might be worth grabbing.

When folks ask about my truck and how difficult it was to find parts for the restoration I often tell them that the hubcaps were the most difficult items to find.

Cool. I'll go back & take a closer look at them. Maybe I can make a deal. I wish all four were there though. That's a great looking truck you have!
