Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

heat could shatter the glass bowl and fuel would leak evrywhere and could potentially start a fire and your trucks to good to have everything burnt crispy under there

the glass fuel filters have a tendency to break anyways...also could at the minimum cause the fuel to boil...which could be a reason for the running issues once warm....

Thanks guys. Good to know, I also got more response on the straight six thread. They said the same things. Guess I gotta fix that!

But on the other hand, the clear fuel filter was/is very handy letting me see that I'm getting fuel. Especially when I was having fuel problems before.

Got my radiator brackets in. Now just gotta get them painted and put in so I can drop in my new radiator!

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Got me one of those fancy memberships! Need to sell some stuff! Should I post it somewhere else or just here on my build thread or both?
But for now I'll go on and say I got a set of 6 lug rallies 15x8 up for sale with the trim rings for $60 plus whatever shipping. I have polished the rings they look nice, the wheels are solid, just need a little cleanup/paint. Didn't want to paint them 'cause someone might want a different color!
Also have a 67 SWB parts/project c-10 body and frame up for sale. Asking $1,000 and includes many spare parts.
Will be taking pics and posting wherever I'm supposed to.

Thanks! Now what'd ya mean by specs? It runs smoother, and I can tell it's getting a lot hotter spark, but still gotta get it running better before I can drive and really see the difference.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Alright guys. Now that my truck will at least start up and run and I can move it around. I was pulling it in and outta the drive and turned on my parking lights (worked) then pulled and turned on my headlights (worked), but my parking lights went out. And always do everytime I turn on my headlights. Thinking back on it they've always done that, so anyone know why and how to fix it? Oh and it's only the front amber parking lights in the grill that do this. The rear taillights stay on just fine. They do flash when activating the turn signal if headlights are on.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Not sure Rick, bulbs seem to work fine. WIRING??? It does have it! Not sure who knows what the heck the PO did to it. Seems mostly original though. Wondered if anyone else had run into that problem.

THanks! Yeah I'd posted this on another electrical thread and someone told me the same thing. Now just gotta fix that. I think I can run a jumper wire on my switch to make 'em work when the headlights are on.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Super nice truck I like the green on the engine, it's a little different than the usual orange that I painted mine I had the can already and it was already orange so the refresh was easy. I think the VHT copper or gold will be my next choice if the engine needs to come out.

Those wheels look sweet on your truck, I recommend 255-60 R15's for tires if you lower it a little. should fill the wells nice without rubbing.

As a 67 owner myself, I did not know that the big window was an option. Learn somthing new nearly every day around here. I love this site.

Keep up the great work on your truck, it looks awesome

OHHH!!!! I used an HEI I bought brand new off Ebay for $75 for the Chevy 250. Accel 8mm custom (cut to fit/length) spiral core wires. Autolite Platinum spark plugs gapped at .045 <-I think that decimal is in the right place! Those plugs are a little bigger too think it bumped up my compression a little (just an assumption). That's it. Now just to get it road worthy!

Thanks A LOT!! Always good to get a compliment!

255-60's is on it NOW!! I'll have to post pics. They look BAD A$$! Does need to be lowered a little especially in the back. THe front doesn't look bad. All in good time though.
Yeah, I had to learn that about the window's myself. When I first got the truck I thought someone had swithed the cab! But it's original Ain't this site AWESOME!
