I wonder if this truck is in MD because I have seen that cab over at a car show in Laurel before.

So I now own the fire truck above on page 6. I purchased it locally here in SC back in March. It had been converted to a flatbed before I got it. Wasn't the best conversion as the fire truck pump is still mounted under the bed. Since purchasing, I completely rewired it with AAW Classic Update kit, new steering wheel and new carb. Runs great and everything electrical works as supposed to. I finished decommissioning the fire truck remnants as much of it wasn't operating correctly. Truck only has a couple rust holes in the cab floor and drivers rear corner where the master cylinder leaked. I'm going through the brakes now. Truck only has 25k miles and is really in fantastic shape. I was excited to find a photo of it when it was in operation as a fire truck. Looking for original side steps and hangers. It currently has custom made ones for the fire apparatus. Kinda cool Last edited by Nobighurry; 05-19-2017 at 11:51 AM. |

Cool truck! Like the Dayton wheels too... What does it have for an engine/trans?

The truck in the first picture on post #140 has a Chevrolet Grille with GMC letters on it.
The whole backing panel is probably from a Chevrolet. Bill |

My dad used to have a grain truck similar to this one:
Wish he still had it!

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Cool. you still see them in use at harvest time. If they had custom farmers back then like they do now I bet there'd be more Cheyennes and CSTs.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Notice that there are some real heavy Mediums and then there are some pretty light Heavy trucks out there? They made C-70's (C-90 style cab) with a GVW probably as low as 25,000 and some C-60's (Medium style cab like above) with a GVW close to 50,000.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Yeah,I love that about the medium & heavy duty trucks. There were so many options to tailor a truck to your needs.

Tough, reliable trucks too. Simple to work on and fun to drive to boot.

How about a twin stick Detroit? I hope to get a chance to own one before it's over. Here's a heavy Medium Duty w/aux tranny.

Tim, Nice heavy Medium. I like the factory buckets to allow for the 2 trannys.
Mayo, Yes the GMC 9500 is from MD. It is owned by an online friend of mine. Bill |

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
By the way, I learned a little more about the "Lime Green" GMC with the Snow Plow posted earlier. It doesn't have Detroit Diesel, but a 3208 Cat. Also has a trans that is pretty much a disappointment. It has an Allison Auto. It's also for sale for a pretty reasonable price, but if I were to buy it, I would be changing it to a Detroit with a Road Ranger. A 5 X 4 trans would do fine also.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Gotta have a Detroit in a Jimmy. Bill, you must know that guy from The Stovebolt Page, maybe? I've never run into him,but seen his truck at some ATHS shows. He lives not far from me in Dayton,MD. That truck is a true gem. You have to try to make it up to the Tri-State (ATHS) show outside of Winchester the end of September. That goes for anyone else near enough.

That's clean. I wonder what motor and if it's a 2spd rear. It would be cool with a little dump body.
