Re: Project: Ginger

Guys... I've been fortunate enough to check out this truck first hand and know that he is putting great attention to detail. This thing will be slick when it's done.

I would have given up on the steering linkage.

Re: Project: Ginger

Today I did some painting on parts for my red '69.
So while that was drying,... I decided to tackle the last two brake lines on my Dropmember chassis.
(the top two in the prop valve,... with the 180 degree bends)
These were from the Wilwood M/C down to the frame mounted SSBC proportioning valve.
I like the challenge of bending brake lines, but was worried about scratching my freshly painted firewall.
It seems like the more bending and flaring, of brake lines that you do,... the better you get.
Not the case for me.
It still took several hours.
The line seperators are a "Made 4 You" product from Summit Racing,... that came in last week..

Re: Project: Ginger

The Wilwood M/C allows you to install the brake lines on the LH or RH side.
I wanted to install them on the RH side,... but they were going to be directly in the way of the column shift linkage,... so this is the route I went.

Re: Project: Ginger

Nice work on the brake lines. What kind of material is that? How hard was it to bend to the shape you wanted? I am currently fighting with some pre-bent lines. They don't exactly fit the way I expected. These will be the last ones I buy. The next ones I will bend myself for sure.

These are started as 5' sticks of 3/16" brake line from NAPA.
Pretty easy to bend with a good bender.

Nice clean work Keith!

Q: What did you use to plug the dipstick hole on the passenger side of the block?

The crate engine came with a bag full of steel plugs. (2 or 3).
I was going to get them from my local GM parts guy,... but I found them hiding under the cardboard intake cover.

Thanks, Doug.
I love your old heater delete plate on this truck.
It's going to be a slow build.

Re: Project: Ginger

This is a very nice build. Builds like this make me want to spend the extra cash and spend the extra time to build a QUALITY truck! And with guys like Kevin from LFD living only a few blocks away from my house I know my truck could end up as nice as yours! Keep them pics and updates coming! I can't wait to see this one turn out!
