Re: how old are you 60 -66 owners

I don't have any pictures of its current state, it is not a pretty sight...long story. Here are some from 1992, this was after the 2nd redo, complete frame up while I was attending college.

About 3 months after those pictures, it was vandalized to such a point that it would require more work than the insurance company would cover. I messed around with it, then family/work/moving/kids, you know took over and it has been sitting since late 1999. My plan is to start back on it this year in the fall. We'll see....

I'm 52. Have had the Chevy C10 stepside since 1981.

Grandma bought the truck new for Grandpa's birthday in 1964, after secretly saving "spare change" for some two decades, literally in a box in the closet.

Re: how old are you 60 -66 owners

44 years and counting...My first truck in 1981 was a black 1965 Chevy C10 lwb fleetside truck, followed by a red/white 1966 Chevy C10 lwb fleetside truck in 1983. I was born in 1965, so I have always been partial to the 4-5-6 Chevy trucks, especially the 1965's.

The photos are from 1981 and 1983, respectively. I sold the black one to buy the red one. I kept the wheels/tires from the black '65 and put them on the '66.

I am 27 and born and raised in Baltimore, Md. I have a connection to my truck also. It was also built here in Baltimore. Cool huh? It just sucks they tore the factory down a couple of years ago.

1991-1995 it was a '73 C20 long bed stepside.

Re: how old are you 60 -66 owners

I just turned 30 I got my 1964 Chevy 2 wheel dr. C-10 V8 283 3 on the tree when I was 27. I bought it in Alaska for $350.00 from the original owner. The only things not original on it are the exhaust, seat, paint job, and the gears in the rear diff because he said he blew it out racing back in High School. I plan on restoring it completely back to original with the exception of the paint instead of just white I am going with pearl white. It has 77,000 original miles on it. It sat in his backyard from 1990 until I came along and looked at it in 2007 I put premium gas with lead additive in it and a optima battery in it put the original key in it turned it............It turned right over and fired up in about 5 cranks. Then he had explained to me that when he parked it there he had taken a bottle of boat engine fogging oil fired up the truck held the throttle open and poured it until it died. Well I shipped the truck to Michigan and where I will be restoring it. I have drove it around here and there can't go far no brake lights or turn signals but the brakes are right up top and I am learning to whip through the three on the tree like it's nothing I enjoy driving my truck and can't wait for her to be finished it deserves to be looking beautiful.I can't say it enough I love my truck. By the way this is my first post.
