Just read this whole build from start to right now. I really like that fuel tank. Where did you get it from?

I don't know where the fuel tank is from there is no sticker or stamp on it. It came with the truck so it is from the original build 20 years ago.

Re: Starting to start starting a C4 conversion on my 84 SWB GMC
Thanks guys!
Here's the paint progress: the frame is silver and the firewall is red. We are planning to wet sand and buff the red tomorrow. For the 2 years I have been working on this firewall and dropmember part of the project I have tried to imagine what it would look like finished but nothing compares to actually seeing it done. Wow, paint makes such a difference! I really appreciate my brother putting his time into my truck to get it done. I'm likely moving to a different house in a month and we set a goal of getting the engine bay area painted and the engine mounted for the move. If wet sanding happens tomorrow as planned then the engine will go in this weekend.

That really looks good. Make sure you tape the edges of the panels, so they don't chip during reassembly.

Wow that firewall and front frame looks great! What are your plans for the rest of the outside of the truck?

Re: Starting to start starting a C4 conversion on my 84 SWB GMC
Well my plans change all the time, I was planning to paint the bottom half of the truck black and keep the top red but Smashingchuck pointed out that a light color on the bottom will help the truck look as low as it will be. So then I thought about just painting the whole truck red again but that just doesn't seem right. This truck has always had so much character in my opinion so I don't want to paint it one solid color. Luckily I don't have the money to paint the truck right now so I have time to keep thinking about it. Soon I will be working on the rear air bag brackets and finishing the bed.

Re: Starting to start starting a C4 conversion on my 84 SWB GMC
The engine is in! My goal was to get the firewall finished by the end of Feb, which we did so that the engine and trans could go back in. Along with the front suspension components of course. I needed the truck to role again so that I could trailer it to my next house. We just moved to another house what a pain. As soon as I got the truck in the new garage I got a call from a guy that wanted the Corvette wheels. I put the truck back on jack stands and sold the wheels that night. I'm lookin for 22's now.

Re: Starting to start starting a C4 conversion on my 84 SWB GMC
for such a beauty a single color wouldn´t be enough i think but wild graphiks won´t do it too! you may choose 2 tones divided by some nice pinstripes or a subtle graphik around the wasteline maybe checkered stripes or flames!
I´d love some of that on my truck in combination with silver metallic for a cool high quality hotrod look! Volker

Re: Starting to start starting a C4 conversion on my 84 SWB GMC
Well I'm finally starting to live up to my signature line, I've got 22's! Just bought these wheels from a guy on Craigslist. Turns out he lives 5 miles away from me and he brought the wheels to me so I could check the fit. Since I have the Corvette bolt pattern I've been looking at 22" BMW 7 series take-offs, they have the same bolt pattern and BMW's tend to have decent back spacing. Well I really lucked out since these wheels are 22X10 fronts and 22x12 rears with a 6 inch lip! This is a deeper wheel than you usually find on BMWs. I couldn't have asked for a better fit even if I was ordering them new. Now the rims aren't perfect they do have some wear and tear on them, mostly the silver paint on the centers just has some dings from rocks or whatever. I will likely repaint the centers with the silver we are using on my frame.
