Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Can these brackets be installed with the axles in? I want to pull my drums, but I don't have any brackets yet and I don't want to have to pull the axles twice.

No. The old backing plates have to come off. The only way to get them off is to pull the axles (unless you cut them off).

I realize the axles have to come out to pull the old backing plates off. What I'm trying to figure out is, after I pull the backing plates off, If I put the axles back in and button up the differential, can I install Glocks brackets when I get them?

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Rob,

Looking at the pics on the 1st page and the page before this one, it looks like they will go on with the axle in. The piece that actually attaches to the flange is "C" shaped and the opening looks to be large enough to fit around the axle. At least that's the way it looks.
Maybe Bob will chime in a say for sure.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood. Yes, you can install the brackets with the axles in. No problem.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Has anyone tried mounting the Camaro or Impala dust shield? I think it would definitely help with the water if it will bolt up.

Ya I dig it. They are summit rotors. They make the same style for the front so you can match front/rear.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Not sure if I posted these in this thread but... A couple part numbers I used:

97 Camaro Parking Brake Cables: NAPA 94724

97 Camaro Flex Lines to Calipers: NAPA 380483

Both parts are not side specific.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

What would it take to be able to use the Camaro caliper up front also? Just so they would match. Is the front Camaro caliper a dual piston? I have ordered my brackets and also bought the new Camaro calipers from Advanced auto for $160.

I got mine on eBay for $50 shipped.

When I get 'em we'll see if it's a good deal or not.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

OK, I finally got all my parts, (no thanks to NAPA's warehouse, ). I got the brackets installed on the rearend housing but I'm having a problem when I try to bolt the caliper up. There's a 3/8 to 1/2 gap between the mounting surface on the caliper and the mounting surface on the bracket. I thought I might have to shim a little, but not quite that much. Any suggestion? Pictures of problem....

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Did you have the inner hole of the rotor machined to open it up to fit over the "bump" on the axle, allowing it to fully seat on the axle flange? That looks to be about the distance that the "bump" protruded out from the flange face.
