Re: Got a new truck
I got another cevy a newer one this time, but it is going to the junkyard or we might swap a motor into it, will not pass smog, and sell it. We traded a 85 ford 1/2t 4wd that needs windows and the reg fees payed, for it. The ford needs some body work but it runs, and my friend wanted a project so he got one, and this truck we didn't want but we had to take it, but no plans for now, except get rid of it.
I got a fuel cell a nice plastic one for 40 bucks, hopefully it fits, if not, I will just save it for something in a few years. I went to the truck pulls and want to build a motor now, and today is the mud drags. I will get some pics today, i didnt get much yesterday. Only one gas truck was matched with the deisles and it was a 69 chevy, 572 blown, got to the rearend a little past the furthest mark 300ft, but did not do a full pull.

Re: Got a new truck
Alright, a little something to do with my truck, i put a seat in, not bolted, but a seat and sat in it. I wanted to play with the steering wheel but didn't want to have it fall off the jackstands. The seat will need to go up 6-8in for maximum viewing, and to have my legs comfortable.
I will be taking one of my trucks to pismo in a few weeks, should be fun.

Re: Got a new truck
I will post up some pics of my cell, do not know if we will use it but this is where if we do and some of the drags.
A cool body style, it lost 2 my friend and his square body. My friend, the the yeloow truck. The blazer had full cage with a corvette engine, my friend lost to it but just because a bad start, would have had him.

Re: Got a new truck
I went outside put the fuel celll where i wanted and showed my dad, and i think that in the pic is where it will be put, without the x brace like planed. I did some math and firgured its a 29-30 gallon cell. I also pulled out the welder, and got some small tubes for the mock up seat mount and forgot the helmets not at my house, so i might have updates tomarrow.
I think you might get a kick out of this, my uncle whose truck was shown before the black ford, threw a rod. If i recall right he said the nos doesnt cost much just the stuff under it, and seeing as this is the second powerstroke that has thrown a rod. He says he is going to put a 572 in it so only time will tell.

Re: Got a new truck
yup, I want to get it done soon, but things happen. but it will get done, i have next weekend i will work on it, then the next one pismo, cannot bring it but i will bring my other truck and rain is coming.
Got any ideas on if i should brace the box under the main hoop support where the cell is, or leave it and put the fuel cell there?

Re: Got a new truck
I got a welding helmet for my house, and thursdy i should be getting my heim joints. It has been pouring rain all day and supposed to tomarrow too. So when it stops i will make a rough seat mount, so i can sit in it.
I may going wheeling in my other truck after i finish making a motor mount cross member, and weld in a light bar. It will help a little in a roll over, next time we order some steel, a full internal cage. for it.

Re: Got a new truck
Yes, progress a mock up seat mount was made it was a bad one, just 4 tubes from the floor to bottom of the seat but it got done and i sat in it. I will post picks later, i want it to go over about a in or so and down two. The middle section, wasn't in my way of vision so hopefully it stays that way.

Re: Got a new truck
rid of my fuel cell, didn't fit, so it is for the best. Got a dana 70 rear end i think its a 70b but unknown, Picked up the closed knucke 60 and they are both at my house. matching ratios so those are going in it 4.88. Got 2 racing seats will have pics later, will get some 5point harnesses soon, and the other seat is going in middle a little to the passager side.

Re: Got a new truck
Still deciding we need to get wheels with the holes drilled to 5/8ths, different lug nut studs, if we want to use the 70 which matches the front. If we don't decide soon we will just put the 1/2ton on and be done, until after winter it rains a lot.
But still will wheel the 1/2t with the 31s or 33s bfg mud terrains, for the winter. Edit: I have decided to keep it a half-ton, reasoning being rain is coming soon, have everything for it except the coilovers, getting them soon, delay in finding the kind i want. The only thing i will have to do is make some brackets for when i go to 1ton. This way I learn if i want to swap the trans, if so i can do it when i go to 1ton. overall I think this way i will make it the best it can be not rushing it.

Re: Got a new truck
I think 5/8s, the 9/16s wheel doesn't fit, the holes line up but doesn't go on the studs are too big.
It's a dually dana70, and 60 so everythings bigger, But I'm glad this happened sort of. My dad is going out of town for a week for work so he will get payed a little more so we maybe able to get rocks in a month. Thus, saving us money from getting the wheels we need in 20s for the tons, then having those sitting around trying to sell them, while waiting to get 20s for the rockwell pantern.

Re: Got a new truck
Alright, the middle seat is welded in no moving it except front to back, My seat mount is made, Needs to be drilled for the 2 bolts in the bottom. It also needs 2 bars welded up, so about an hour tomarrow and the drivers seat is in. The oassager seat isn't even mocked up but that will wait till The 4links done.
The truck moved when we moved the jack stands so tomarrow we will move the axle and start placing the brackets where the need to be.

Re: Got a new truck
well didn't touch the seats, but did get a lot done got the lower link mounts tacked to the axle, and clamped to the frame. My dad is bringing the arch welder from his work to our house, so we will weld the mounts up with that to get deeper pentation.
