Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

Little update:

The 'new' clutch is in. No more slippage. It's a Centerforce that my father-in-law had on the shelf. Great shape... and the best part... FREE!!

She's back in action...

I'm still needing them. I know we're only down the road, but would you mind shipping them? Just PM how much. Everytime we head down to Albq, we can never seem to make enough time for everything.

I can't think of anything else right now...Gracias... JC62

Hey Joe, I wish you would depend on me for the relay, sorry you feel I am not dependable as I have offered to pick up your parts. Hope you get your emblems. Glad you got the clutch in.

Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

Thanks to member michael bustamante, my fender emblems came in over the weekend. I just couldn't help it. After work last night I polished them up, painted the bowties and 3M'd them on. I went with the 3M method, because there's no way to get to the speednuts without removing the fender.

Thanks Michael!

Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

I got some tunes now... ♪♪♪

I got a JVC cd player for free from the bro's in law. The CD player doesn't work (supposedly, I didn't try it) but it has an AUX input for my MP3 player. That works great and so does the radio...

I also installed my new interior light lens/bezel...

Let the 'Rattle-Bombing' begin...

A new shade of primer to get me by until I can afford paint and body...

Should be covered completely by the weekend...

I was surprised how much pressure the new Rustoleum cans have. If you decide to rattle can it, go with the rustoleum. I'm spraying over old primer so it's cover pretty quick. I'm just a little over 4 cans into it.

Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

Hello Mr Chavez,

From across the country and looking for a little advice. I just got an M20 for my '66 Short/Fleet and am putting it in behind a original (1966) 283 I picked up for a single washington.

Could you post some of the experience/trouble you had getting the tranny set up to aid me a little? I have to get a bellhousing, and have over a month before I will be able to get the engine machined, built and installed so if I need to look around for a bellhousing that will make it easier or better it is no sweat. I have the time and would love to get it right, from the start. Any info, detailed pics of the setup, a parts list maybe? Gracias in advance.

Your thread is bad a$$ by the way. It's pretty fun to follow along and watch the progress but it's almost too fast to keep up!

2006 H-D Street Glide black cherry paint I call her "Expensive"

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the compliment!

The M20 was given to me from my buddy "striptnut". Lucky for me, he is super organized and he gave me everything, trans, bellhousing, shifter intact, clutch linkage, everything. One thing I discovered about bellhousings when I was installing the tranny was the center hole diameter and starter mount positions change. After experimenting with other parts that I had (taking shortcuts to my the job "easier") I ended up using all the parts that were given to me with the 4 speed... After all this is what I used:

Bellhousing with a 4 1/2" center hole
168 tooth flywheel

I've also discovered that the bellhousing used with SM420's or SM465's will not work, center hole too large, but the ones used with Saginaw 3 speeds (3-on-the-tree) are the same... in my case anyways.

What transmission was in your truck originally?
