Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
Will there be an option to have the 71-72 bumper lights? I would be in for a chrome one like that.

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
It's been almost seven weeks since the original post, which estimated that they'd be in within six weeks. Any updates on current expected delivery and if there will still be free shipping for the first purchasers?

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
you're obviously not in our target market. I appreciate your input though...we need more people in tune with the cost of steel tooling and manufacturing to help guide us. If we could recoup our costs selling them at $29.95....and they'd still be "Made in wherever"...we'd do it.

I never got a reply, but will there be an option to retain the 71-72 bumper lights?

LOL "... not our target market.."
Let's us know the progress of the rear bumper as well... I'd like a matching set for my 67. Last edited by Mondo; 10-21-2010 at 05:34 PM. |

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
no. We designed it to be used with the headlights that have the signal lamp in them. We are looking for another way to mount the signal lights (other than stamping a "tab" into them for mounting) as well as some other design options.

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
prototype rear is supposed to be brounght in by our fabricator today (for AT LEAST) to look at. Hopefully it's more "Done" than I think by my conversation with him.

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
it doesn't matter where a part is plated. nickel is nickel, chrome is chrome, copper is copper wherever you buy it. ALL plating is done to a cost model....want a $20.00 bumper and they'll deliver a $20.00 bumper....want to enter your truck in a Riddler competition they'll plate to that standard. Simply put there are grades of quality within all processes. Every look at the factory step bumper on a '94-'01 Dodge Ram? north of North Carolina you can stick your fingers through 90% of them where both the chrome and steel have corroded....bad plater? probably not...they just did what they were asked/paid to do.

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
Once the rear is done, are there thoughts of a front/rear combo package/price?
Dale PS: Sorry if it's been asked, just scanned the rest. |

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
Dale we hadn't really discussed it yet because the rear development is lagging the front so bad. It's a good idea and a one box set would make everyone's life easier when done.

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
So from my understanding the chrome on these bumpers will be top notch?

These look pretty good.
By the time the dust settles, I will be ready for an unpainted set.

some of us. live in rustbelt land.. I'd have no issue with paying a little more for a quialty plated bumber that the plating is on both sides..so the rust doesn't start lifting the plate from the rear.. |

There are triple nickel and standard bumpers...the difference is quite large in the look and quality.

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
Heck if nothing else you could get the plain bumpers and get them plated yourself! Somewhere local to you! Probably cost some good $$$ but then you would know everything is just like you want it!

Consider my comments enlightenment rather than bashing. These bumpers aren't a simple shape at all.Flat with square bends is basic. These bumpers have rounded, rolled, creased, compound shapes as well as being "v" shaped. If they were simple we could make our own at home or by a local fabricator. But these require drafting, tool & die work (including making them),a hefty slice of steel I don't doubt the same gauge as original,it's a bumper),dressing, buffing, polishing, and plating.Even If I could make this (without stamping in a press) and have it plated,I'd have way more than $300 in it.To hear what that first part costs to produce is stifling.I'd estimate the chroming alone would be at least $300.Figure how many will be sold considering they are a custom touch not desired by all and the market is divided by stock versions as well a roll pans and a multitude of off road 4wd designs. Then there are those who already bought a new bumper. The rust belt is the rust belt. The best prevention is parking from the first spreading of road salts until after a couple of rains after the last spreading of salt.A pitted bumper is the least of my worries. All chrome should be kept clean and waxed to keep pores sealed.Even once rust starts to show,it can be kept at bay with regular care. But,who takes a customized truck out in the winter crud anyway?Ya live,ya learn. I'm starting to consider this bumper an option for "Poor Boy".Might have to change the name, though (s'poda be using what I have )

Re: SNEAK PEEK for forum members
OK, on the rear bumpers, are you prototyping both the fleetside and stepside styles? Or are you just doing fleets first, then stepside bumpers later?
