Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I am. I haven't taken a truck down this far before so I'm kinda going slower. I want to do a lot of stuff to it to make it sit lower. My plan is to do a 4.5'' and 6'' drop. I am finding out just how much work goes into one thats torn down all the way. But I'm glad that I am doing it. I found a couple loose nuts on the crossmember u bolts. May have shown up later and had a bad day lol.

Most of my stuff will be ECE.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I really enjoyed painting the frame and then bolting all the suspension parts onto a nice clean surface. So much nicer than working under an old dirty/greasy truck and grinding/wire wheeling. Plus, they look so great painted up and with new parts on them.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I sure am getting dirty doin it. I still need to clean the a arms and crossmember. Maybe tomorrow or this weekend. I found out my tranny is gonna cost more than I thought. But it'll be one less thing to worry about I guess. Still haven't heard from the motor guy yet. I need to get ordering stuff.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

looking good. i just finished putting 3 calipers back on, still need the passenger rear and i can scratch it off my list.

the only reason im going slower other than the fact that its my first time is that im trying to remember how it went together or how to put the new stuff in.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Well my truck is now all GMC. I sold the chevy center caps and bought some new GMCs to go on my ralleys. I also picked up my transmission from Rickys Transmission today. He rebuilt one for me a few years back and I thought he did a great job. I'll paint this to make it look better.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I wetsanded the front part of the frame yesterday and painted it today while it was raining cats and dogs. I want to get a c notch kit and shock relocator kit then I'll do the rear. I got the upper balljoints out of the a arms.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

frame looks really good.

For the C-notch, POL (performanceonline.com) has their chassis stuff 10% off of already cheap prices...might be worth looking into.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I purchased a new tranny crossmember from Performance online.(off of ebay) I like the aftermarket crossmembers a whole lot better than the stock ones. You can get to the rear bolts of the pan easier. I 'll get a pic when it gets here. I also bought some 2'' drop front springs from CPP on ebay.

It was 87.00 after shipping. I wanted the tubular type but couldn't find one so I settled for the rectangular straight one.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

thanks mcbassin.

Thanks Dwane. I like them too.

I found a wiring harness for my tach dash.

I also started cleaning up my a arms. I thought I would try two products and see which one works. Turns out that their both about the same imo. I still like carb cleaner too. Pressure washer followed both btw.
