Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Thanks guys. Im really enjoying the new look of the inside but the big sore thumb, the seat cover, is really screaming out that it needs to be put out of its misery. Here is what Im talking about.
I would have had the seat cover done yesterday but Mr. UPS man decided to drop my box off at a store loading dock a few miles from my house, and then he picked it up, lost it on his truck... I chased him all day until he finally found it and brought it to my house at the end of the day. So, today is the day. I will post pics once its done. Also, got my Porterbuilt, Accuair, and wheels ordered! Lots of cool stuff coming soon.

I'm loving this thread.
What product did you use to lube the window mechanism? |

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Thanks, glad you are digging the build! I took my time and used a number of things on the window mechs. I have to imagine mine have never been touched since the truck was new so I used some PB blaster to cut through all the dust and grime that was built up in there. I let that soak for about a 1/2 hour and then ran the window up and down a few times to work it in. Then I sprayed some white lithium grease spray on all the moving parts and rolled the window up and down several times to work that in. After about 3 cycles the window was going up and down with no effort so I knew it was good! Try it, you will be surprised with the results Im sure.

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Thanks a lot. I have been stuck doing other projects on the truck over the last few days and have not gotten back to the seat cover yet. I had to get a new carpet kit to go with the upcoming High Hump section swap to go with the new Drop member. I also have been doing some cleaning up of all the door jambs to get rid of all the dry polishing compound that found its way in there. Things are moving right along. More updates coming!

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
If you are talking about the gray colored padding, about 1/4 inch thick, its called Jute and you can get it at most good upholstery shops. Its like a thick felt padding. Hope that helps.

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Parts are starting to show up for the next iteration of Gumby. I have been collecting up little things here and there that are going to be installed soon. things like a serpentine system, some radio parts, Ipod hook up etc. Here is a look at the tires, 20's in front and 22s in back. Porterbuilt stuff is on order so once it arrives, things will progress quickly!
Hope you guys are enjoying the build as much as I am!

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Thanks guys! I met up with Delmo yesterday to iron out the next phase of this build and everything is looking great!! I can't wait to share with you guys the build part 2. Today its really nice outside so I took Gumby out for a drive and stopped to snap a few photos of how it looks now. Things are going to change soon, but this is how it sits today. 5.5 and 7 static drop on 15 inch torq thrust wheels. Rides excellent!!
I like how its looking now with the paint polished and all the lights new and fresh. The tailgate lettering painted white again, and the proper rear bumper on it too. What do you guys think?

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Wow, I have been slacking on here for a while, but things have been going on behind the scenes! All my Accuair parts came in, and its a lot of boxes!
Also should have my Porterbuilt stuff in 2 weeks. The truck is leaving for Delmo's this weekend, and good things will start happening quickly. More pics soon!

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
HAHA, not all of that is my stuff, some of it is for other trucks too. Wheels are going to be 20 and 22 smoothies with off white centers and chevy truck center caps. Those are being cut up right now.

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
well its official, Gumby is sitting at Delmos Speed shop and I hear that tear down starts pretty soon. I will have to get Del to post updates in here along with the pics I plan to take too. I hope to show a step by step frame build on the Porterbuilt stuff as well.
