Re: 67 C-10 project.

well yesterday (Friday) i made some progress! i got a 1 ton shop crane from Harbor Freight with a coupon from the Classic Truck magazine for $99. awesome deal i think! and i got 6 ft of chain and 4 grade 8 bolts and i was able to get the 350 motor out of the back of my truck and get it installed on the engine stand. Sweet! then i had to take the truck for a little drive around the neighborhood. I haven't driven it for a week. So now this weekend, the people that bought all of the lumber in my shop are supposed to come get it. that will free up enough space i think i can get the truck in the garage and then start tearing the front end off. trying to see if i can upload pictures from my phone....

Re: 67 C-10 project.

well not much of an update, but i'm slowly getting the garage cleaned out enough to get the truck in there...and i have the 327 motor up off the floor now. it's partially supported by the hoist and mostly resting on a couple old tires. i'm thinking that if i can get the truck in there perpendicular to the doors, i'll actually have pretty good space all the way around the truck. i'll try to get some shop pics tomorrow and post em up....getting closer!

Speaking of which....i got a game for you! i'll show you a part and you tell me where it goes! this brackett was laying on the 327 when i got it, so i cleaned it u a little bit and now i'm trying to figure out where it goes?

Re: 67 C-10 project.

oh! possibly...i don't have the alternator, but maybe i was looking at it backwards....i'll have to look at it again. as soon as i can get another engine stand i'll get it on there and better pics as i start to take it apart. So far i'm amazed! i think that everything i have on there is original or darn close. starter, distributer, coil, carb all look original. i think even the paint is original. here's some carb pics...notice it says patent applied for! So what year do you think the carb is?

Re: 67 C-10 project.

oh yeah, i also scraped about a pound or three of dirt, grease crud off of the front crossmember. it's not nearly as rusty as it looked. i also squirted the bolts on the 327 down really good with PB spray, and loosened up the spark plugs. i wanted to make sure they were not going to sieze. they all came out good. Autolite 306's was what they were. the PO had taken care and sealed all of the exhaust manifold bolt holes with caulk or something. i scraped all of that out and ran a 3/8-16 tap into all of the holes and cleaned them all up. took the air hose and shop vacuum to it and it's looking much better. i was going to pull a valve cover off, but it is siliconed on there really good. Not sure how to get around that without bending or denting the valve covers. lol, i feel like an archiologist uncovering an old fossil!!

why it's getting the "Orange Overhaul" of course! i'm going to keep the engine all stock! Need to be on the look out for a stock aircleaner....and an alternator. and a power steering pump....dang. i might have to rob (borrow) a few parts off the 350.
