Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

Here is my 71 K20 when I first got it with the black wheels. Then I changed them over to a little bit narrower white wheel.

And here is my 71 K10 with white wheels. I love the look of these wheels on these trucks.

I couldn't tell, Special-K posted some with 15x8's and they look like 15x11's because of the WIDE tires. I love the looks of it.

Green truck or black truck? Green is here, black one is stored in a barn at my inlaws.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

To 67 C-30 (or anyone else that can advise),

I was planning on posting a question about using original steel wheels after I complete my power disc brake conversion and 2.5/4 drop. It seems like the people on this post likely hold the answer to my question, so I'll just post here. I've found some 15" 6 lug disc wheels that will enable me to use my original hubcaps. However, I've read a couple of posts that seem to say that there is an issue with control arm clearance with 15" wheels after a 2.5" spindle drop. Is this the case? If so, how did you get around it?

Thanks!

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

Here's mine, just some old 16.5's with BFG 33x12.50 rubber.
They aren't the originals to the burb, but they have been on there for close to 30 years. They are date stamped 1969.
I still have my original 16.5 splits though.
Eventually going to some similar steel wheels, but in a 16" or 17" diameter after I get other things taken care of.

To answer your question about 'interference', there is some but it varies w/the back-spacing. Narrower wheels require less trimming of the lip around the BJ edge of the lower a-arm; wider wheels w/more back-space might require more.

Hop over to the suspension forum & post up your wheel size & back-space. See if someone might have that combo to give you a more specific answer.

Looks killer Packrat! I agree, with what you're saying though- I put 15x7s all around mine and I wish I would have went a bit wider in the rear...

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

Thanks. I already primed the hood though. I was planning to repaint it factory colors. The interior is already shaping up. Just need to build my custom oak center console. I guess I could sand the hood back down and let it go again!

Sure, I just sold it last month to pay some bills actually but did alot of stuff to it, longbed to short bed conversion, new interior, 5 engines etc. I have a '78 now. Thanks!

My website on it: http://www.grossepointegothic.com/71stepside/

Just to legitimaize the temp thread hijack, here is my current truck with steel wheels, I plan on putting in my '73 grille, already painted the headlight buckets, painting the wheels black, and 275/60's all the way around. You know the drill, old school
