Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

Here's a shot of my new starter. Sometime ago I posted a question here regarding replacing the old-style 3-bolt flange starter with a standard block mounted started.

Someone here told me it wouldn't work....??

Well, here it is....

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

I thought this was weird how GM mounted the 3-speed in this truck...it's hung by the belhousing, and nothing in the tailend....it actualy supports the load better, as the tranny is so light.

This will have to be changed eventually...due to the fact that this bell-housing x-member hangs below the frame.....definately don't want that.....this will prevent me form laying frame in the future...

In the future, a new e-brake/tranny x-member will be made up.

Pics...

If you are going to scrap that low hanging crossmember, it looks like you could just build a crossmember for the rear, and use a later style trans mount.

Well...I dropped my radiator yesterday....he called me, it's all done. I'm stick'n with the stock radiator for now (I beleive its a 6-cyl radiator, that was recored to a 3-row at somepoint). It cooled the 350 before, we will see.

I need to pick up the rad and heater hoses, built a new battery box, wire it, hook up the clutch linkage, bleed the brakes.... and the get the exhaust done.

I really wanted to do the exhaust myself, but my brand new bender is lacking a hydraulic pump, so I might have to take the truck somewhere.

I ordered a few things from Classic that it needs...a clutch rod, couple firewall grommets, and a new engine side harness'...they should be in soon.

Really isn't much, but when you running two shops at one time, and handling a wonderfull family...time seems to run extremlly short !!!

Trying to make Vacaville on the 19th......actually want to make the May 5th weekend (cinco de Mayo)...here in San Jose there is MAJOR cruiz'n that weekend !!!

Yeah...DAYTONS !!!!....I remember when I had my 'real' set on my 64 Impala wagon.

Here's a few pics for tonight....

I rewelded the clutch arms...I noticed the levers were only welded on one side.....not neccesary, but.....

Got the radiator back from a clean up......

Hard to tell in this picture, but my alternator is not perfect yet...rear brace needs to be adjusted a tad....

Thats a polished aluminum o-ring unit. The base slips over the neck...you then can aim the output any where you want. Available in different degrees...kinda cool...I have one on my wifes 57

Hey John it really looks good, I have the same water-neck. I picked it up at Pammona Swap meet, But I also got one of those self Sacrificing "Rad-Cap" that has the little anode on it. You might have noticed the inside of that neck is bare aluminum and they corrode in a hurry, I think I'm gonna have mine clear powder coated inside and out, when I get my intake done. Also I found something really cool today from Kragens, a billet battery hold down for $6.99 I thought that was dang cheap for billet !!!
