Got a 33" Ididit column on order & will have to go back to the key in the dash. I never have been a fan of the aftermarket switches for these, just don't like the way they look. Thinking about going with this push button from Digital Dawg. Curious for those who may have tried one of these or similar if they like them?

gorgeous work!

thats an interesting push to start, back in the mid 90s I had an alarm called HAALT that used the same technology, disarm as you walk up, and remote start (still had to put the key in and turn it). it was buggy then but I bet 25 years of improvement will make yours better.

Thanks! The unit came in today but it’ll be awhile before I get around to installing it. Still got to rewire it and finish some body mods. ALSO, I’ve been trying my best to resist the LS bug that’s going around… BUT, I stumbled across a brand new 500 hp 6.0 built by the HotRod Engine company someone bought a year or so ago that he never installed. He said he was going to do a stroker instead. The engine normally sells for around $8K but he’s letting it go for $5K! It’s still in the original shipping crate wrapped in plastic. Supposed to be going to pick it up this weekend. Stay tuned!

if swapping to an LS engine you may find a keyless option online. their power train control module runs the engine but I think it is the body control module that runs the door locks and cruise control etc, not sure on the keyless start thing. anyway, maybe figure that out before you lighten your wallet just to be sure all the modules will talk to each other and not require more modules to translate jibberish from one to another. ls1tech may be worth some time perusing. I have heard of guys with issues trying to get their cruise control to work with different steering columns and pcm's etc.
nice deal on the engine. if unclear on how long it sat you could boroscope down a spark plug hole to see if there is any rusty spots in the crosshatch cyl walls etc. should be fine though as a reputable shop would ensure the assembbly lube used would hold up for as long as possible.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be sure to scope it before I fork over any cash.
On the ignition, I don’t think there will be much of an issue because it’s carbureted, although I’ll more than likely switch over to a Holley Sniper.

I KNOW!! Couldn't help it though! I gotta stop buying parts & focus on putting them on the truck! Dakota Digital HDX gauges, Ididit column, Digital Guard Dawg ignition, Nu-Relic power windows, Altman Latches, Roddoors ABS headliner & door panels, Raingear wiper system. If one ore box shows up at my house my wife will kill me!

Heard a lot of horror stories about the truck oil pan hanging to low on LS swaps, swapped it out & gained a few extra inches of clearance.

Got the Dirty Dingo A/C mounted up. Swapped out the truck water pump & started mocking up the fuel injection.

Mocked up the fuel rails and realized the Fitech kit didn’t include the injector wiring harness. I remember what someone told me about LS engines. He said unless you buy a complete junkyard engine you’d spend a fortune buying all the extra little stuff to make them run. So far I’ve had to buy the fuel injection kit, a/c, headers & down tubes, oil filler neck & cap, braided steam vents, throttle cable & bracket, oil filler tube, water pump (swapped the truck pump out for the car version), car oil pan & coil mounting brackets. Still gotta get a belt, the right power steering reservoir cap, a belt and coil harness AND decide what trans I’m going to use. I could use my 700r4, but doubt it will handle the power. Leaning towards a stage two 4L60 or 4L80.

sure looks shiny.
bear in mind that the ls engines have a different offset to the torque converter etc so a flywheel spacer is possibly needed if running something that used to be behind a small block chevy. at least thats what I seem to remember. what kind of module or ecm will you run for your engine? the ecm needs to be able to run the trans as well, check around what will work best for you and your set up. some may have different gear ratios going through the gears as well.

Yeah, I had read something that said an adapter was needed for the earlier model trans. I was wanted to use my 700r4 but doubt it would last long behind this LS. I I’m using the Fitech Ultimate LS EFI with trans control & it calls for the 4l60, 4l65, 4l80 or 4l85. The rear end is a 8.5 10 bolt & 3:73 gears.

Been sidelined with another bout with cancer, but all good now. Got a chance to sneak into the garage to work on my door handle swap. I shaved the original turn downs handles awhile back but decided to go with a set of push buttons with locks on both doors and Altman latches. Still got a little tweaking to do but I’m satisfied with the results.

What's the advantage of the Dirty Dingo setup for the low mount A/C? Asking because that's where my A/C is and I'd like to keep it there but I will need to clearance the frame. Thx

I didn't want to spend more money changing out the accessory drive that came with the engine and had seen this setup on other AD's. I was concerned about clearance as well so I posed that question on the forum and got positive responses. I haven't mounted the engine as of yet but I'm hoping there won't be any issues.

Ok, Thanks. I will take a closer look. I will be integrating with Vintage air setup. I asked about using my stock compressor and they said it would work so I was trying to save some money. If I can keep from notching the frame, I'll take a look at the Sanden compressor.

Thanks for checking in on me. Like the truck, I’m still a work in progress, not 100% but I’m getting better. Haven’t had much time to work on the truck lately. Been busy helping raise my 2 & 3 year old grandsons & that leaves little time for anything else. I did manage to squeeze in a little time this weekend and worked on the cowl panels a bit. I’d hoped to have been finished by now but life happens.
