Re: Let's see some van love!
You could just go out and buy one of those Pathfinders. I considered it more than once back then. I worked for a builder who was a Chevy Van man, he and his son. They were white with an RV looking graphic. This was the 70s-up style into the early '00s style. They had an older Pathfinder done up that they'd cruise the jobs sometimes in. It had the earlier chrome grille, LWB with a slight raised roof. nice!

Re: Let's see some van love!
I have a parts K5 and considered putting the axles under the van. I don't have a transfer case though and the transmission is burnt up.

Re: Let's see some van love!
The original Pathfinders were not just vans with Blazer parts, they had a few oddities.
I'd love to turn this thing into a 4x4 but just can't bring myself to do it. |

I understand the thought, but I would say, stick with what you got. I remember when you first posted it. That thing is neat. That van has a sportiness that appreciates over time.

Re: Let's see some van love!
My buddy wants to get one of the '60s/early seventies little Chevy vans.I guess I don't know what they're called. Were there two platforms? The Corvair based one and another one? I think so. I told him I would get him a license plate that said FRECAND.

Re: Let's see some van love!
They're all G-series, so 10 and 20 back then, called the Chevy Van

Re: Let's see some van love!
Nifty at the time - underappreciated for probably about 30 years - very cool now.

Re: Let's see some van love!
I think Corvair vans were called Greenbrier (sp?). Im not sure if that was a specific name for a specific model of the van or they were all Greenbrier.

Re: Let's see some van love!
Interesting. I've never seen enough of them to be familiar but I didn't think they would use the Corvair name on a van so that makes sense.

Re: Let's see some van love!
Actually, that whole series, Panel van, window van, and pickup were called Corvair 95. I think all window vans were called the Greenbriar, the panel van was the Corvan, and the pickup was the Rampside or a Loadside. I think the Loadside was standard (tailgate) and the Rampside was the option. The window van was described to as a "sport van", but not by name. First came the Corvair 95, then came Dodge A100 and Ford Econoline. I guess I should say "first with US auto makers" because the Corvair 95 was a response to the VW Type 3 Transporters. Once Ford and Dodge offered their vans (in response to the Corvair 95), GM came out with the G-series Chevy Van and GMC Handi-Van

Re: Let's see some van love!
Well, there it is. Wouldn't have guessed it. Low production numbers I wonder? Don't know that I've ever seen any, or at least some of that would probably thing a bell. Assuming that when you say that were called that, that they were badged that way?

Re: Let's see some van love!
The vans were badged Greenbriar and the pickups were badged Corvair 95. I guess it wasn't the whole series called Corvair 95. They were all models of the Corvair series

Actually i think they were all 95’s by wheelbase and vans were corvans unless they were the swanky greenbrier with an “e”

Re: Let's see some van love!
I had just pulled out of my gate the other day and my van caught fire. Apparently the A/C box was filled with leaves and the resistors ignited them. I got it put out before there was too much damage, and I have a parts van with what I need.

Re: Let's see some van love!
Isn't it great to find you're sitting on a part you end up needing that would be difficult to find? A silver lining for a dark cloud

Re: Let's see some van love!
I've seen the super clean early Astro in my area again. Makes me want one like it. These are the pictures I already showed, but it's this one
But that's just a distraction. What really got a hold of me was seeing this guy's video. I thought an AWD Astro would be cool, but my buddy who runs Astros (forever) isn't fond of them for adding complication but I think also he doesn't need 4wd. I was leaning his way considering it as just a mediocre 4wd. Never considered beefing one up. already having AWD is a plus in this build, as simple conversion to gain so much. This is what I want even more

Re: Let's see some van love!
I've been eyeing a GM fleet-white version of one of these in my area. I was thinking a little drop + that Van Ralley wheel set-up would work well & now I know.

Re: Let's see some van love!
Me too Scoti. Lowered with a smidge wider wheel and lower profile tires. Maybe a little more flairs too. Bigger than an econobox but smaller than a full size van for the on road guys.
