Re: 68 project
I had to add a few more to get it where I wanted it but then you break the studs off clean it up with the grinder and skim coat it.

Bring it on down, but I am not sure how good I am if you are referring to me. I did take auto body in vocational school but that was a couple of years ago.

So they shipped my primer but forgot my activator was hoping to prime most of my body panels this Saturday, oh well just a small delay.

Re: 68 project
Todays continuation of the hood dent repair. Using the straight line sander i brought the filler down level then one more light skim coat. A good shot of sandable primer just to see that it is smooth. One very small area needs one more touch with some filler but over all I am well pleased with the outcome.

Re: 68 project
Man you've really lit the fire on this project. I love the black and white photos. I may have missed it along the way but what color do you plan on painting it and what wheel/tire setup are you going with? Lookin' GR8 so far

Re: 68 project
Thanks Corey, it helps when you have a nice place to work on it. I also had this whole week off and have put about 60 hours into it this week. It is going to be olive drab with white trim, all hot rod flatz. As for the wheels I have Weld Draglites, 15x8 for the front and 15x14 for the rear. Kinda on the fence whether to leave them polished or have them powder coated a flat gunmetal gray.
You need to come by one evening and check it out.

Re: 68 project
This is similar to what my look will be minus the stepside and mine will not be that low

Re: 68 project
Oh yes, now I remember reading that you were painting it that color. That will look really good, I'm into the flat paint lately. I'd definitely like to check it out sometime. Once I get mine back on the road in the next few weeks we should plan a time I can make the short trek over. That way you can see how your bedsides turned out too on mine.

Re: 68 project
Absolutely, I am normally at the shop in the evenings or on Saturday. I am excited to see the new improved ride now that it is shortened

Re: 68 project
Started to assemble the front suspension today, still had a few parts to coat but hopefully soon I can put some wheels under this thing and see how it sits.

Yes I am, I need to keep motivated on it. I wish we lived closer where we could hang out and talk trucks

Re: 68 project
I know. I hang my head in shame. I hated that. Was looking forward to that but not having any way to get there I have to use the wife's truck when she is not working. Would love to get there one night this week will check up with you for sure. I see there are a few other members that are local would be awesome if we could all meet up some time in the future maybe when it warms up.

Dang!! I hadn't seen your thread Larry. I'm all caught up now though. It's going to be a beauty. I'm hoping to get my Falcon put back together so I can finally start on Walter.

Re: 68 project
Thanks Ed, it is finally coming all together. I am thinking I need to hang this old frame section on the wall seeing the frame was the biggest part of what was left of this truck. The frame, hood and grill was really the only original parts left on this.
Robert, I was thinking about having a get together this spring at the truck shop and a cruise in. There is plenty of room for parking.
