Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
Protected fuel line under the car with 3/4 elect conduit in case of off roading into a gravel trap or something at the road race track. The insulated part is above where the side exit exhaust comes out.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
Mocked up the gauges found I couldnt read the tach in the "stock'' position "in" the dash while just sitting in the shop let alone at 130 mph. Got out the zip cut and mounted it old school Stock Car!!

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
A entire line of R09s..... Serious horsepower right there! GM says they make "over 800", but won't say exactly how much. I would love to see the insides of one of those engines. I'll bet they are as trick as can be.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
Consider, the R09s use hollow pushrods about an inch in diameter (necking down at the ball ends) and about 1.9:1 rockers on the flat tappet cams!
Priority main oiling of course, but all coolant and oiling passages are designed from scratch to reduce casting weight...no oil pump or filter bosses even inside the bottom end. Plus, in the Cup series at least, those pics are of engines that have been superceded already. To go along with the (cobbled together) fuel injection program, the distributor's been replaced by crank sensors.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
Love this build. I will be checking back for sure. Think your going to need a bigger Speedo tho. Lol. Made me laugh when I saw it. I had the same autometer stuff in a 4x4 awhile back but the speedo was somethinglike 180 or 200 mph. Got a deal..... Like I ever needed that .
keep up the great work.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
After buying the battery box off a picture in a catalog and obsessing over placement I put it here and Im happy with it. Kind of central but over to the right to offset driver weight, protected and can still get the fuel cell out. And still room for a dry sump tank to the right.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
In the previous pics the glass bumpers were just sitting there balanced on the car. After more head scratching I came up with this bumper/mount. Same done to the rear.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
You winch a car like this up on the trailer. I needed a hook, After three or four solutions I settled with this, works good, simple and super light.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
Spoke to David from Va at length about the rear spoiler. He said "Six inches tall and 60 degree angle" I said Holy Smokes thats big! He said "You have to pin that rear end down solid or it will be so dog gone loose you wont be able to drive it".....OK fine thats what we'll do. Heres a mock up. Thats 6.75" so it will be a little shorter. And a pic of the one that came on it.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
Found out the pan in the above pic wouldnt work as the Dart block is a "spread rail" design in the pan mating surfaces to accomodate the stroker crank. It also has the cam galley raised up in the block for the same reason. So I ended up having to get a special order roadrace wet sump pan from Moroso. And the headers were special order from Schoenfeld in Alabama. But theyre here now and after I get the trans back I can mount it and start plumbing/wiring the actual engine Im going to use instead of the mock up engine. Hours and hours on the web/phone sourcing those parts as neither of them are listed in their catalouges.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
Man I cant say enuf abt this car. I love it . I had a buddy a while back that was doing something similar with a 55 chev . Never got past the rolling stage. Car got passed around a few times after sitting in his garage for abt 18 years. Wonder if it will ever be this cool.??? The merc exh riser in the pic above means that there is sumtin else taking up your time . You can go boating any time ......Lol. Keep up the good work on this car . Cant wate to see it move under its own power.

Re: My '69 Chevelle/Winston cup car
Swapped out the fabbed valve covers, didnt look old school enough. Accessories sorted, engine is ready to go. 830 double pumper. High end super trick lightweight race alternator turned out to be the stock item off an '89 Geo Tracker. Still have to decide on a breather set up. Plug in's on the valve covers wont do.
