We then tore down the '72 front suspension for paint, and rebuilt the suspension. I ordered '72 2 1/2 drop spindles from ECE, along with 4' drop springs for the back.

Good luck with your build. if you have any questions, let me know and i will do my best to help you out.

Thanks for the comments.

Heath
Thanks for the info! I will keep a close eye on your build, great job so far!

Re: Project Slo-Go 67

Great job on the build. Gives me a little hope and inspiration as I continue to work on mine. I haven't had any experience with rust repair either but am doing like you did and learn as I go. I think my problem is I need a better welder. I have a Clarke Mig with an argon tank but it pulsates instead of feeding the wire smoothly so the welds look like hell. Could be because I am using too small of a gauge extension cord too. Who knows. Just another reason to spend money on a new welder

Re: Project Slo-Go 67

Thanks for the comments! you might want to check the tensioner that holds the wire spool on (could be too tight), and the tension roller that feeds the wire through the gun.

Did you put that por-15 directly over the rusty manifold?

NO, they were wirewheeled, then i let them sit in vinegar for a couple of days (thanks for the tip CDOWNS) , cleaned em with wax and grease remover, then painted with the por-15 manifold grey high heat ..

the manifolds only have 2 light coats, I will probably put atleast one more heavier coats, maybe 2.

The vinegar cleans them up real good, you can get 2 gallons at sams for around 3 bucks. I bought 4 gallons and soaked em... they came out pretty....

Mike,

I may give that a try on the headers of my '56, they have been jet coated (ordered that way from summit) but seem to be fading already.. let me know how yours turn out.

Thanks, they still need another coat or two. I used a foam brush, it is a self leveling high temp paint from por -15 see the link below.

http://www.por15.com/FACTORY-MANIFOL...ductinfo/FMGG/

I wirebrushed the manifolds, let them sit in vinegar a couple of days, dried em off. and hung them up to dry internally a couple of days. cleaned them with wax and grease remover, the painted with the por-15 high temp paint. Ledzepp used the high temp paint and has had good results, so here we are.....
