Re: Rods 57
I for one would have never thought about that. Unfortunately there are whack-jobs out there that would do as you posted. FORTUNATELY there's guys here like Coupeguy2001 to bring this stuff to one's attention.

Re: Rods 57
Really good points guys. Not sure what to do, I don't want it under the hood, so I need to look at some different ideas. i agree with rudedude i am getting to old to crawl on the ground to change it. maybe a looking tilt bed floor...

Re: Rods 57
I've seen some people use an old school Coke cooler as a battery box in the back. Might work better than the tool box and be less tempting for the sticky fingers. I am with rudedude, I knew I didn't want to service a battery or a brake booster under the truck so both are on the firewall. BUT, I don't want any chrome or shiny stuff to have to polish either...everything will be black and wash friendly. Mine will just be a nice driver, no mirrors under the truck and the only people who are looking at that will be the ones I just ran over!

Re: Rods 57
I left mine on the firewall. Murphy's law says if its in the bed it will be covered up with stuff when I need to get to it. If its under the frame it will be buried in snow or a mud hole. But I like the tool box idea.

Re: Rods 57
Got to work on the bed this weekend. The left side had been hit so i cut the tailgate latch parts off and filled in the stake pocket. I still have some finish work but here are the two sides. The little pieces on the bed sides are to fill the ends in.

Re: Rods 57
This truck is turning out great, black with red interior is by far my favourite colour scheme, and will be my end result with my '52 aswell.
Keep it up! |

Re: Rods 57
Happy new year hope everyone had a chance to get some truck parts over the holiday. I was able to get the right bed side finished. its in primer only no filler.
Here is the two of them one down one to go. |
