Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Hey VA72C10 it looks like you brushed up on disorders I definately have ADD but I may be using OCD out of context a litlle. Just meant that now I'm going to stew over how my truck would look with a set of those wheels and spend entirely too much time looking for a set before I get back on track and re-focus

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Thanks Everyone! And thanks for clearing that up for me VA72C10!
Yeah John going to go with the chrome bumper that is styled like my front. I guess that's the "sport bumper". From LMC..... Also from the looks of it that hitch is really heavy duty, should pull whatever you'd want. Not sure of the class, it may say on it, I'll have to look. PO put it on. Looks like he used my truck as a tow vehicle. He even wired in that 6 or 7 pin trailer wiring hook up. Long term....are you ready? When we get our house and my garage built (shooting for spring next year) after the garage is set up, it'll be a tear down, rebuild, and paint. Plan to keep the original 250 inline and 350 tranny. May get a new tranny just so I don't have any worries. Especially with the engine rebuilt. Engine will get complete new pistons, rings, cam, and all seals, bearings, and gaskets. Along with Offy intake, Edelbrock 500 cfm carb, slightly bigger cam, headers, and repaint and Offy valve cover and matching side plates. Body will be probably like it is, just fix all of the small dents and scratches and repaint in a nice burnt orange/coppery kinda of color still to be determined. Oh, and of course the white top. Also in that theme add the white tailgate lettering decals. Same side mirrors, chevrolet letters on the hood, grille trim, front bumper, headlight bezels, and any other trim that are on it. Not sure if I want the 67-68 side trim or tailgate trim yet. I do like it though. And of course my AR tubines, maybe painted inbetween the spokes a different color. Still to decide on that. Interior will be painted completely on the inside the same as outside with gray dash pad, visors (hard to find), bench seat, steering wheel, door panels, and carpet. Original style gauges redone into white face (why I have the white Sunpro tach). The radio and gauges will be matching blue led lit. New 67 glove box emblem. Updated stereo (sorry rick, probably gonna be cuttin' the dash), with new speakers and small amp and sub. Probably gonna build some kind of drink holder that goes at the bottom and hides some of the heater box. Chrome dome lamp. New rearview mirror, maybe a chrome bowtie one! Steering wheel to either be replaced or resized to 15". The later is my choice I like how my horn button is styled like my wheels. Other things will be.....Rear mount gas tank, glass pack muffler(s) with side exit before the rear tire, 2/4 drop (or bagged depending on $$), front and rear sway bars, completely updated lighting led's everywhere and the euro headlights, clear front markers (amber led bulbs), led tailights or bulbs. Also thinking of bed carpet with toneau cover, but not sure yet. I'm sure there's more that I can't think of. Oh, thinking of lowering the fender emblems some to make them level with the top of the wheel well. Anyone seen that before? ANYWAY....hope that gives you all a vision like the one I have. Sorry for the BOOK!!! And keep in mind this may alter a bit with time, and some things may get done here and there before or after rebuild.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Ok, so on vacation this week. Planning to get the new radiator and brackets in along with the lines ran to the built in tranny cooler. To remove the external ugly radiator cooler, 2 inch reciever hitch, and may remove the rear bumper. Also hoping to do the exhaust.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Oh no, of course not is for sale $40. Looks brand new! What I've seen a lotta guys on here do is use on of these 2" recievers with a sport bumper like yours and a camaro flip down license plate holder. Hides the reciever until you need it, then lift up your plate and install the hitch. Cool huh? Bumper for sale too. Not sure how much?

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
I wish! LOL! If only the wife would let me do that and build that other '67 I have for sale right now! YEAH RIGHT! Can't have 'em all I guess. But I'm content with this one. May be a while before I get to the restoration, but just add ons right now and driving it is good with me for a while! Thanks John.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
i think you should fix everything thats not working right and when its the right height or it runs the right way for you and the last thing bothering you is the frame and paint then tear it apart!

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Oh I'm definately gonna drive the heck outta it! Got some work done today. Got my big ole radiator mostly installed. Just gotta run the new trans cooler lines, and figure out the fan and shroud. Original 67 finger gaurd not gonna work (I don't think). Also got the passenger inner fender sanded, primed, painted (in semi gloss black), and undercoated. Still gotta get the driver side done. It the pic of the undone one. Just to show you what I'm starting with. I'm shocked that they're not rusted through anywhere like I'm used to seeing on these trucks. Also installed my billet specialties bowtie radiator cap. SHINY! Here's pics for you all!

Thanks 1972Hays!
I also noticed today that my truck did originally have the trim, so I'm thinking I'm gonna have to track down a nice set! Keep 'yer eyes peeled for me!

YES it should have had the trim... are the holes bondo'd or welded?

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Well, maybe both. Definately bondo'd. The retaining nuts and studs are still on the inside of the fenders, yet no sign of the holes on the outside. I guess instead of welding in the holes they left the stud and bondo'd over it. Don't ask me how, I'm boggled myself. But it is supposed to have the trim or originally did. Also (question for ya Rick) was Chevy orange an original exterior body color for 67? If not what colors were?

Very carefully! So I guess you figured out what I discovered? Found the backing nuts for the trim still on the inside of my fenders. Need to get out there and see if there's more like on the bed. Now need you guys to help me get together a good set of trim!
