Re: 67 SWB First Build
The 2” fuel filler seemed a tad big after looking at it a bit harder. I decided to go with the 1.5" filler instead. Found this pop-up deck fill cap that looked pretty slick. Ordered some fuel filler hose and some hose clamps to put the assembly together. After I weld in the fuel filler neck it'd be tough to get on.
Welded the 2" hole back up. Tacked the filler in. It is a Marine deck fill I ordered from West Marine. Should look pretty slick. Almost finished up the filler and sanding on the top rail. About 95% done sanding on both the fenders. Can't wait to be done! |

Definitely one of the coolest ways to refuel your truck.

Oh man, lots of progress man. Really like your grill idea and I'm anxious to see what that will look like in black.
Those mirrors, can you give us the details on them and who makes em? Love all the other billet pieces too, gonna look real sharp. .

Mirrors, window cranks and inner door handles are ringbrothers. I saw them on Vannatta Fab's page on Instagram. They have some pretty cool pieces. I had a bunch of those VISA giftcards sitting around so I splurged a bit on the mirrors. Outer door handles are from GSI machine and fabrication. |

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Small accomplishment. The 67 cab is mated with the frame for the first time since I've owned it. Used new cab mounting kit from classic heartbeat that I had ordered about a year ago. Everything fit together well. The cab lifter on my engine hoist has gotten some great use for sure.
Spent tonight starting to fit all my panels. Trying to get a good feel for how my gaps will look. For the most part everything is looking decent. I'll have a buddy over one of these nights to give me a hand with aligning them a bit closer before I spray the feather fill. Nice feeling though seeing it look like an actual pickup |

Did you shave the grill inserts where the parking lights go?

Re: 67 SWB First Build
I did indeed. I had a spare grill from my parts rig that I was able to steal the upper inner trim piece. Kicking around the idea of adding them elsewhere in the grill or get a headlight assembly that has it built in.

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Real slow progress. Doesn't mean I haven't been day dreaming about it!
I ordered a new Dakota digital dash RTX. The thing is pretty darn cool looking. My wiring harness update kit from American autowire also showed up. Now I need to get going on my 383! Not much bodywork lately. I managed to strip the paint in the inside of my fenders. Por 15 and epoxy primered them next. I have a mobile blaster coming in a couple weeks to get a few misc items. He says with the new equipment he has, he's able to strip my hoods with no worry about warping. New goal is to have the cab and front clip in primer before summer. Parts for blasting in couple of weeks. Also going to get OEM front bumper sand blasted. Cowl hood. 67/68 OEM hood. Think I'll prep both as I'm having trouble with which one to use. Clearanced fuse panel pass through to the engine bay for new harness. |

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Day dreaming is good.
Sounds like you got a good plan. After the Mobile sandblast guy finishes with the hoods, It may help you decide which one to go with. They will be bare metal (with no stripes). Also you will see the real condition under the paint. I like that you are keeping your goals Realistic. .

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Your gonna like the AA harness and the DD gauges. And the BIM module really makes the gauge setup super simple.
Are you going to be painting your bumper? If your sandblasting it now would be a really good time to shave the bumper smooth

Dang man, good work here, lot of work pulling that on and off like that. Kudos for taking that wrong order and making it right.

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Thanks TA. With a skim coat of filler at the joint, it shouldn't be too noticeable.

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Quick update. Been trying to spend a few hours each night in the shop after the wife goes to bed.
Because I plan on cruising in this primarily in decent weather, including the summer, I jumped on the VA train. Based on all the reviews on this site, it seemed like a solid choice. As you can see in the pictures below, the center vent did not fit great. I read about this in some other threads. I decided to massage the dash into the shape of the vent to close that large gap. With a little body filler too, it turned out half decent. So far everything seems to be good quality. Only concern is the ball vents. Hope they can stand up to wear and tare. |

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Continued...
Fitting my grill. It lined up really nice with the fenders. Just a skim coat to clean it up a little bit. I'll take the grill off to clean up the joint. Also finished sanding the bumper. I think it'll look real sharp. Had a couple low spots on the rear cross sill, that I massaged out for the most part. Just a little skim coat left to sand. |

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Looking great. And getting closer man. I did similar with my center VA vent. I wish I would have massaged my dash more. I have too much filler on mine, but it's on the inside so.....
I think those bumpers are gonna look pretty cool. .

Re: 67 SWB First Build
It looks like you welded the bumper bolts to the bumper for the smooth look?

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Sure did! Wasn't too tough, just takes a bit of time. I was originally going to go front roll pan but my dad talked me into the bumper. I like the look.

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Small update:
Fitting the cowl panel to the door and fender. Bodylines and gap look okay. Will take some massaging. Also been doing a lot of sanding. Working on the tubs and bed floor. I finished up the two weld areas on the floor. Also used a shrink tip to tighten the hood metal back up on the hood. No more oil canning 👌🏽 |

Re: 67 SWB First Build
Small update:
Finished up the welding and filler on the floor yesterday. I scuffed the new e-coating and sprayed some epoxy primer. It isn't perfect by any means but I don't think anyone will hardly notice it after I spray a bed liner over it. I was in the zone with spraying so I hit a few other items. The rear wheel wells were pretty beat up but after some Dolly/hammer work and some filler/sanding, they turned out decent. Once again, not perfect, but hardly noticable under a bed liner 👍🏼 There was also a lot of metal burn through areas in the filler/primer around the truck. I sprayed those areas with epoxy, including the front bumper. |

I think the front bumper will look pretty decent when painted. Put it on tonight to See the fit. Went on easy. It's definitely more motivating to work on when you start throwing panels and pieces back on. |

Re: 67 SWB First Build
I'm starting to fit all my panels finally. Curious. Are all those stock panels or do you have any new? I got a new core support and inner wheel tubs. The inners are off, gonna have to massage and manipulate to get them to fit right...
Looking good! .
