Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

The headers are a close fit. The driver's side is about a half inch away from the lower control arm and the frame will need a hair taken off just to be safe. The passenger side has a problem hitting the servo. Since I have upgraded sonnax servos, they stick out almost an inch over stock and are coming in contact with the headers. I dented the headers some and need a little more and then with the gasket I think they should be fine.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

Well I got the bedsides off, and the rear out...the rear is getting 3.73 gears and a posi as well as new axle bearings and seals. I also got the trans cooler mocked up and am waiting to get a metal strip welded in so I can get the core support painted.

Dude, love the Pickup. If you don't mind, how much and where did you get the eagle alloys from? I am now set on those wheels, just trying to find the best deal.
Thanks Anthony

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

thanks, and not a problem. I got my wheels from jdwheels.com, they are great to deal with and I would recommend them...I think I paid 285 for the 10s and 265 for the 8.5s, but I just checked their website and it looks like they went up a lot, they are showing 327 for 10s and 303 for 8.5s.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

Well work is still being done with the radiator support, hopefully I figure out how to mount the trans cooler and get it painted within two weeks or so. Also tore apart the rear. Getting it cleaned up and painted at the moment, then a posi and 3.73 gears go in. I should be able to get some pictures up today.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

Well I have been doing some work on the cab still and haven't had much progress except sanding down the cab. I also ordered my radiator, went with entropy technology....Tony is great to deal with and extremely knowledgeable and can build the radiator to your needs...highly recommend him. Should work on the truck some tomorrow and get pictures up.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

They are schoenfeld headers, I think you were on the long tube header thread I started, I wish there was a 4x4 with an ls swap around me so I could see if they fit or how much work they would be to make them fit.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

Did they bolt right in? The only difference would be i will need extra frame clearance where the schakle is. So if they are close to the trans it may work for me. Thanks for the info.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

yea they bolted right in, I had a tight fit with the servo because I have an aftermarket, but they fit pretty tight with the trans

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

Well I got my radiator, as well as got my bar welded on to support my trans cooler. So once I figure out how I am mounting my radiator I should be able to get it painted. Still considering paint options, but right now I think I like GM Atomic Orange Metallic the best. Ideas?

Hey you might have already said but if you don't mind me asking what did you pay for the motor? I plan on doing a ls swap down the road ? And do you know if you can use a 700r4 with it or do you have to get another tranny ? Thanks man

I believe the motor, trans and harness was $3200, which isn't bad for an LS2, but what I have found is that if it's actually an ls motor then it is significantly more than a 6.0 or 5.3. I know you can use your old transmission, but I do not know anything about that because I had planned on using the new trans the whole time. I believe there are builds on this forum that used the old trans, but off the top of my head I don't know any. Thanks for the compliments and good luck when you start yours.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

Any info on the great looking radiator? Like source, part no. price maybe? And where did you get the fans and shroud? Inquiring minds want to know.
On paint; I think the GM Atomic Orange Metallic would really make the truck pop! Go with it!

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

yea, it's Entropy Technology, the owner's name is Tony and a great guy to deal with. The radiator comes with the fan and shroud for around 700. He doesn't have a part number, you just have to make sure your specific to him about what your original radiator is mainly the 17" or 19" height. Thanks for the opinion on paint, that's what I'm leaning towards.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

Got some work done this weekend. Got the radiator mounting figured out. I would suggest getting a 19" high one and trying other mounts rather than getting the 17" one like I did. I had to modify the stock brackets. I also got the area cleaned up some and the transmission cross member bolted in.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"

Does anyone have any input on what rear I should run? Will the 10 bolt be enough for a 3200 rpm stall and at most 400 wrhp for now? I think I might look at junkyards and try to find a 10 bolt or 12 bolt with a posi and hopefully 3.73 gears.
