Re: 64 c10 build
Great to meet you at Clems in Fayetteville on Saturday Paul.
Then to spend the evening with you and Brandon along with Martin last night after heather and Amy cooked us dinner.... Priceless. Chatting trucks, mods, motors and dreams. It does not get much better than that. You have screwed up my build completely now..... As I want some of the mods you did, on my truck. After we left you at 11.00pm we drove to Phil "Rock Tonka" place in Norman and got there at 00.30 after which we stayed in his shop till 05.00 Stay in touch. Will be watching your builds. At least with Facetime we can continue to chat.

So we took some time off from my truck to build my Daughter a '64 c10 bed for her birthday. I wanted to do something special just for her that I hadn't seen before so I came up with the c10 tailgate.. Oh and I did a 4-5-6 plaque to put above her bed.. Thank you Brandon "white knuckle garage" for all your help

Re: 64 c10 build
Love the bed! I was thinking about you, Brandon, and Chad yesterday when I stopped in at Tulsa to stay the night. We were coming through on our way to Stillwater for the weekend.

Thanks guys!
Very small update I got the a/c side vents cut. ...and I went to a auction Saturday and bought a 63 grille for my truck. It didn't come with the headlight bezels so I'll be looking for a set..

Re: 64 c10 build
Very Nice, looks great....... have a few questions to ask you, I'm working on my 64 SB and installing a 99 5.3 with 4l60E it came out of a truck. Looks like your using the original motor mounts the same as I'm doing.... what engine did you use, does your oil pan hang below your front cross member or did you use a different oil pan????
I'm thinking of using a Cadillac CTSV oil pan, or a camaro oil pan to get my oil pan level with or a bit higher than my front cross member.....any pictures of your's would be greatly appreciated, and or any details you can pass along. Also what are you using for fuel lines???? Thanks Cragars |

Re: 64 c10 build
Thanks Donnie!
Thanks Greg! I used a wire wheel and sanded the floor. Quote:

I used CPP Ls kit and the pan is lower than the cross member.. I will be changing to a car pan. When it was going static dropped I wasn't too worried about it but now I'm going bags! So it will be an issue. For my fuel lines I'm using Stainless Steel Braided Lines with AN fittings.

Re: 64 c10 build
Hey Paul, you're daughters room is the coolest... what a lucky girl. she probably will be handing you tools for years, till you start handing them to her.
i really like the 63 grill and i wondered if you were chrome plating it, if so Classic Parts has new trim rings that are reasonable but if you're gonna paint, I might have some that are decent. Keep up the good work... there's a 5.3 conversion in my future so I'll be checking in. |

Re: 64 c10 build
Today I removed the small bolt in c-notches that I welded in. I never thought I would be hacking away at my already painted frame. Oh well. Hopefully next week the rear dropmember will be delivered, install it and start on raising the bed floor. The front won't be here until the beginning of March. The small notches will be making an appearance again on my other truck..

Re: 64 c10 build
I loved it when you sent the photo of the gas axe........
Showed your serious commitment to undoing the over engineering you steady did. Would a frame swop not be easier, starting with an unnotched frame. As always, your obsessive attention to detail and perfect finishing shows. Most people would just grab a grinder, cut the welds and then carry on to the next step. But you...........nope. Finish it again. Well done mate.

Some changes going down on my truck!! I could not live with the static drop, it wasn't low enough. Never Enough!! So I ordered the Accuair e-level kit from Travis at Pro Performance. He really knows his stuff. And now I'm trying to decide how low I want it. I'm thinking the Porterbuilt stage 2 deluxe front kit with the front crossmember modified, but not sure about the rear dropmember level. Decisions decisions!! To lay frame or not to lay frame.. That is the question.

You poor crazy crazy guy.
Perfection must hurt so much. Still, without guys like you pushing the boundaries, guys like me would never push our own boundaries. Keep at it, you will be happy in the end

Re: 64 c10 build
Paul you might as well go ahead and lay frame now. You know if you don't then you will have to change plans again. Lol
