Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
what kind of numbers are you hoping for from the new 418? i know a 12 bolt can be built up to handle high hp, just the 9" seems to be the more trusted route. not that im questioning your methods, just curious.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Hoping to go 10.7x-10.8x on motor next time out and get it down to 10.5x in the near future. On the unit, hoping to go 9.9x and work it down to at least a 9.5x. For all I know, the rear could last 10 years or 1 pass. I don't look forward to having to build the 9", but when the 12 bolt goes, the 9" will get built. Maybe before.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Ok, went by again to see the truck late last week. Had another set of headers to try and fit. Let's just say they did not work with the new 6 bolt heads
But here are some pics of the wishbone.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I was uploading the above pics when I got a plesant suprise via text I believe this means all the welding on the chassis is done. Well, minus the bottle brackers, Mounting the cell and the fuel pump.. Oh, and removing the existing cross member that held the LCA's in place and putting in a new cross member with driveshaft loop.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Unbolt the front panel, put it in place and bolt the panel back in. The 60-66 beds can be completely unbolted.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Right. I should have been more clear. I was wondering more about the inside, like are you going to put tubs in it or a floor or a bed cover, stuff like that?

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Thinking of doing an alum bed cover. I don't run a gate most the time, if I do it is down. I have also thought about skinning the bottom of the truck, similar to how the newer betts are done.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I have thought about running a wishbone with trailing arms.

That's interesting. I'm used to seeing the wishbone above the axle.
Truck is looking very nice.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Joe cut the front panel today and we set the bed on the frame. Notice we left two holes per side. It helped keep it from being floppy with the little bit of shear strength in the sheet metal (upper aera you can see a slight triangle).

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Joe sent me these couple pics today. We discussed lowering the truck a little more in the rear. It is now about 2" lower.
He also mounted the N20 bottle. Got a bunch of stuff in the mail today from Summit. I am making some changes to the fuel system to run E85. Fuel system will look like this: 5/8 (-10) hard line from cell to Weldon 2035-A Splitting to dual 1/2 (-8) before the rails Off the other end of the rails is a -4 T fitting One 1/4 (-4) goes to the N20 noids (one on each side, 2-stage) the other goes to the Aeromotive A1000 regulator 1/2 (-8) return back to the cell Things left for Joe to do before I get it back and start working on the fuels system: Mount the batterey Mount the fuel cell Drain plug in radiator Rod end radiator mounts from the front bars cage bars to the radiator Map out 4-link for ICG I have a race coming up May 19/20 that I am hoping to be running by.

Your truck is getting serious man. Come a long way since I first seen it a few years ago.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Yup, it's a money pit.. Good news is it is coming home on Friday. Then on to getting the fuel system back together and a rear brake line. Should hopefully be racing the 19th and 20th. Just 1/8 mile with no track prep or timers, but will give me some seat time

Shakedown run
What do you think your 60ft time will be with all the new goodies on her now? Maybe you can have someone to video you launching out of the hole and down the track to see the difference now.
