Re: Jesses' 48 PU
That's normal. 47- Early 49 used single mount in the center. Late 49+ used the shackles.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Update on my project. Been working on it whenever I have a chance. I have been working on the floor, I laid the cab on its back and welded the bottom. I then flipped it back, cleaned up the welds and sprayed some chassis black on the 1 x 1 frame I installed. I patched the rear of the cab. I used an old hood I had laying around from my daughters car. No I did not leave her car without a hood, a while back she was involved I a minor accident and the hood was damaged. It worked out great for what I needed. I hope to cut up the floor panels this weekend and weld them in.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
this part of the cab was seriously damaged and rusted through in several places. So instead of doing 10 little patches I decided to do one big one. Worked out.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Finally installed a floor pan. I used 16 gage sheet metal, made a template off butcher paper, and carefully trimmed the sheet metal. I finally welded it in place today. Solid weld beads on the outside edges and spot welds in the center. I'm happy with it. Will work on the driver side this weekend.

Thanks guys... I've never done anything like this, so a lot of research and measuring... Slowly but surely making progress.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Your truck is coming along real nice. Frame and floor look good and solid. BTW I like your work lights, I have the same ones.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Haven't done much to it, so in order to gain some motivation, I decided to temporarily mount the cab and bed on the frame. Waiting on the engine to figure out how much if any will I have to push back the firewall and make tranny tunnel.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
The more the truck looks like a truck the better the motivation.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
That does help the motivation. Having a bunch of buddies giving encouragement does too.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Well, haven't done much to it. Funny how other projects get in the way and we push things to the back burner. Although I haven't done much to the cab, I did have my friend rebuild the engine. He called me last week to tell me it was ready. So I put the truck back in the garage and dropped the engine in just to check fitment. I will have to move the engine mounts back a couple of inches to have a tighter fit to the firewall. I am waiting on my transmission as well so I can determine how much to trim off the firewall. Meanwhile, here is a pic of the engine. Exciting...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I've made time to work on my truck. It's been a crazy two years, personally and professionally. So many plans put on hold. Well I finally got tired of putting it off. I've been dreading working on the patches needed on the driver side corner. But only one way it was gonna get done, like anything else in life, committ and get it done. So below are pics of my work.. Keep in mind I'm a weekend warrior, self taught.
