UPDATE 9/5/2009

Well i removed the front and back windows and marked out the cuts for the chop 2" out back 3" up front....

Here are the pics of the marks let me know if ya think it might not work....(Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics)

Does that mean it will have a rake to it,like XXL's or do you normally cut more in the front?

to my knowlege you cut more on trucks to prevent it from running uphill. thats what the book im using said.

DONT DO IT

Are you sure about this? Usually trucks have a slight rake from the factory to compensate for loaded beds. Since yours is a custom lowered truck(I'm assuming your not going to build a rake into your stance), I would make the roof level with the floor.

A flat cut will look like it's running uphill. Getting at least 1/2 more out of the front is the way to go. One inch is better.

And, since you've got the saw out... how about cutting 5" and 6.5"? Go ahead... do it!!!

You know i was temped to cut 3" out of the back and 4" up front but i want it to be barely noticeable...so i hope to have it cut tomorrow, stay tuned....

Not to divert Justin's thread but,,The roof on your self proclaimed"Wallet Eater" looks to my eyes to have a forward rake. Is this true? It seems,to me, to almost look like the roof is bent down in the front.. Did you use the aforementioned method?

Yes, there's a real rake in the roofline. In addition, the front glass has been raked back a couple of inches at the top.

Im using "how to chop tops" by Tex Smith as a guideline... the inside of the cab i just mark were the easiest place to add the filler peices would be. hope it turns out.

That's a lot of chop. And it's also running uphill. I'd say 5" front and back. If you go that far, I would definitely plan to rake the front windshield back 3" or so. If you don't, you end up with that very wide window frame that calls out "I've got a chopped roof"... and I think you want to be more subtle than that. Even radical chops done right maintain some subtlety by maintaining proportions... look at the car in the background.

ya im stay about were i said, probly going to be 3-4 chop thou... im in the progress of chopping it now, the roof is off.... pictures soon

I agree about it running up hill but I like the wide side window frame. How would you go about getting that side window look,and no + or - rake w/o laying back the windshield? Does that extra inch out of the front pillars take care of that?

you would have to take 1/2 to 1 inch more out of the front

holy crap. It takes b@lls to do that. I know when I was about to cut my firewall, I paced around the garage for a while trying to muster up the courage.
