Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses

My 76, lousy cell phone pic, It's a 350/350/203 truck; DD, gets used as an actual truck. Its no blacktop beauty. haha. In this pic the block heater is plugged in to get me those easy starts when I hav to be up at 4 in the morning in the winter to push snow. Runs like a dream, but mileage is horrendous with that 203.

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses

Ha, Thanks. it's a good old Indiana farm barn, all wooden pegs and huge boards to build it. Full concrete at some point though and it gives me a place to keep the old girl, and my 95 impala, which is a money pit, plenty of room for all the projects in there.

that's a cab & chassis, as opposed to a pickup. They have longer frames and a longer wheelbase. You could get them in single or dual rear wheel if a one ton, or single in a 3/4 ton.

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses

Here's my 97 that I finally sold , bringing home my 82 crew project. and the 33' camper that the 82 will be pulling soon. I'm expecting the 454 will school the diesel. So far I haven't dared tow anything because the homemade hitch was sketchy. That's gone as of yesterday, regular class III or IV going on it now. Only work the 82 has done so far is to bring home a ton of wood pellets and weekly dump runs. Next winter it will have a plow on it, and next fall it will be taking me hunting. I also have a diesel 2500 Suburban that will plow, tow the 4 wheelers and 'maybe' tow the camper. It's heavy though, so I think the 454 will be going camping and the diesel will be staying home.

Thats a nice 97 you had. I always had a soft spot or x-cab duallys.

Any recent pics of the 82?

Re: Lets see some 73-87 work horses

Yeah, looking at the pictures makes me sad, it was the best truck I ever owned. Had for ten years, which is more than three times longer than I've ever owned any other truck. I built that truck to work and it had pretty much every option and every available aftermarket mod done to it. Only sold it because I had to get rid of one of the three, and my friend was begging me for it, was starting a business and needed a tow rig. So I sold it to him at a great price, month later he changed his mind and sold it again. New owner likely has no idea of all the huge mods I did. Here's a couple of the 82 progress.

thanks, I have built a couple squares (and other old stuff) in the past, and what I always found was that I had more fun planning and saving for stuff, and making the improvements to make it just what I wanted, then when I was done I always got bored and sold it. So, I'm trying to remember to enjoy this part. Kind of like the old saying, it's the journey, not the destination.
