It's hard to beat free.
I know a lot of guys are against cutting these things up but I have no problem with it.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build

I must be losing my mind. I actually bought (saved) it from a scrap metal facility.
At least this one is a BBW V8 with bed trim. It also has the artillery wheels.
My wife thinks I am crazy.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build

My plan is to put the V8 running gear, the front clip and frame under my panel.
(It is clipped with a so-so Camaro sub frame)
Use the lower bed sides to fix my panel and probably sell the rest of the parts.
I may even use the deluxe trim on my 59 Fleet. I really miss my old truck.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build

That bed trim and hood orament are junk you do not need. I will pay shipping to me so I can give them a proper burial >8^))

Nice find, if the junk guys took the time to find out what stuff is worth they could make some serious cash and still get the scrap value out of what is left.

Whaaaatttt??? Damn, from the scrap metal facility! That's awesome man!!

It's bad that a truck about to be crushed is in better shape than the one I dug up!! Haha

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build

I sold an old Mercedes on Ebay to a guy in Germany and had to drop it off at a shipper here in Houston yesterday. I was surprised to see all the old iron in their bullpen ready to be shipped overseas. Those folks are getting some good cars and a lot of them.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build

I put the primered truck up for sale after selling the bed trim and the wheels online.
A local guy wanted a project and decided to trade me his 59 Impala project.
All the paint work has been done and it is ready to build. I could not be happier with the deal. Looks like I will have a pair of 59's.

ooo, I can see why she likes it! It's awesome! I don't think it would fit in my garage! What engine are you going to install~ LS1? A corvette engine would look really nice!

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build

I am slowly making progress. I am putting all my efforts towards the Fleetside to have it ready for The Lone Star Round-Up in Austin, Texas. April 4 and 5.
I got all the bodywork finished on the cab and it is ready for paint. (Notice the cutout for my driveshaft)
The panel below the back glass kicked my rear end.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build

A couple more pics from today. Got the drivers front fender shaved, primed and ready for color.
I got the notch in both bedsides completed. Cut it out and welded 16ga. strips in the notch to add strength. The tire will fit inside the notch when it is lowered all the way. I really need about a half inch more to completely lay it out because my back tires are 31-1/2" tall. I will make do.
