yesterday i washed up Cotton's 63 and took pics for an update. The truck is about 90% done mechanically, only a few wiring tasks and carpet inside to do. there's still a bunch of paint work left and all the hours of cut and buff. but all in all, we're ahead of schedule. You might remember that Cotton wanted a truck that was basic without the options and frills. About all he wanted to add was a deluxe steering wheel and bumper guards. here's the pics...

Cotton requested a bit more power and an overdrive trans. so we opted for a 68 model 350 4-bolt dressed out to resemble an original 283 though the valve covers give it up. we also put in a fresh 700R and for safety sake, power disc brakes were added as well as power steering. more pics...

Cottons truck is as perfect as they come. Spot on perfection. Saw this truck in person and the pics don't do it justice.

Beautiful work Clem. I also got to see it in person and talk with Cotton about it. The pics don't do it justice. Very nice. I know Cotton is excited about getting it finished.

A nice surprise in the post this morning was a package from Rian (Grizz) containing a sticker he picked up on his recent road trip and a cool tee shirt which was a present for me from Clem.

Another example of how cool the people are that share our interest in all things automotive when someone like Clem takes the time and trouble to send something to someone they've never met.

just painted the bed again today and after a couple of days curing you will see it on the frame… promise… and thanks martin, looks like you are back at your truck also. some folks just need to feel progress on their projects or things just aren't right, i know you're one of those guys.

cotton is very excited about his truck. we're discussing some concepts about the finished product and i think its gonna be pretty cool. so hang with us and thanks for the comments man...

thanks guys… really appreciate the well wishes.
Retirement... it can't be that bad if I work hard at it and hire the right guys, then the truck shop thing should do alright. at least i can be doing what i really enjoy doing. and with the partner in Pete Hoffman things seem to be falling into place.

2 weeks ago a very nice country lady pulled in with a project. her truck named Maude, needed a complete face lift and mechanical overhaul. I do the face lift part and Pete does the mechanicals.

Maude is a farm truck that was in very sad shape…once a work truck in Oklahoma is has rust to the Nth degree, a myriad of bozo mechanicals before us and some general poor taste from previous owners. Basically a complete redo on a tight budget. Well the lady was cool and she loves Maude, soooooo,
its OK, we're weak for folks that love their truck… pics of Maude.



After we removed the clip (sorry no pics) the real neglect became evident.

A little floor work, column change, door repair, tailgate fixin' and she'll be good as new.
