I dont have any welding tools or skillz so it was just simpler to add the sensors in while the harness was getting reworked instead of chopping and welding getting the pedal to work. So i guess for my skill set it was the best route

Still trying to decide if I want to swap a 6.0 / 4L80E into my dually, but searching and digging through all the various build threads made me a little smarter than I was before. Thanks.

I would not have tried this if it were not for this forum. I know what ever problem I have someone on this board will have an answer. Best forum by far for this type of swap. Go ahead and dive in. You want be sorry.

Got a couple of O/T projects in line ahead of the dually (one's almost done and the other won't take too long, hopefully), so I got plenty of time to do the research and ask all the dumb questions beforehand.

New trucks run anywhere from 25 to almost 50K. Something tells me I can upgrade my $2500 dually to a late-model drivetrain and get a few more years out of it for a little less than the price of a new CCD.

Good stuff! Sorry for not providing more details even though several people asked, but it's been a hectic few weeks. I am glad it worked out for you and it looks great! Have you thought about where to re-position the radiator overflow bottle? A '99 Tahoe fits ok next to the air cleaner on the fender, but it's a little too long for the inner fender (about an inch). I am hitting the salvage yard this weekend and will let you know if I find anything that'll work.

Hey thanks a lot. Yes it worked out great the overflow bottle will work where it is but it is a little hard to get to. On the bottom of the filter box there are 3 posts for lack of a better word, 2 are on the engine side look like push lock pins. Do they need the rubber groumets in the battery tray? and the drain hole post near the fender looks threaded does it have a plastic nut? Mine was already removed from the truck so I was unable to see how it was secured.

I didn't use any grommets (which is why I probably still have a tilt...). I ended up breaking one of the push-pins (from the force of having to extend the air tube I think) so I replaced it with a 1/4"x20 1" bolt. I couldn't make room for the bottle so I am going to try something else. If you look in one of my pictures you will see a castleated nut (from a ball joint I think!) holding down the drain. It's the only thing I had on hand that would fit. I am sure that the original was a nylon nut or something, but it didn't come with mine, either. I will find something better and let you know.

Soule64; went to the dealer today to see how that filter box is installed. It does have two rubber gourmets and a plastic nut so I ordered them today. Less than seven bucks. Guy let me measure the pan to get the hole size and pattern from. He was real interested in seeing the truck when I'm finished, he has an 81 Silverado.

Went to the dealer yesterday to get the groumets and the "nut" ,but it was not a nut it was a type of plate that was part of the bottom tray. You could not buy it seperate so all I got was the groumets. I am going to just get a nut like you did. I will take the battery tray out to mount the filter box and take a pic of it when I am finished.

Very small update: Got the motor mount plate for the P/S modified (Thanks to Bob)and the clam shell installed, it clears the A/C compressor so that's good. And of course the D/S was a good fit any but I know how you guys like pics so here they are. Got the Oil cooler line block off plate from Nook & Tranny with the tapped hole for the oil pressure sending unit installed. Will be doing a test fit to get the engine pedestal modified for the D/S (Thanks to Bob) this weekend. I will post pics as soon as I get them. Slow and Steady!!!

OK.... Progress is progress no matter how small.......... I also got a friend to weld the motor mount stand on the P/S for the new motor mount location should get it back in the next day or so. Should have nice weather this weekend will try to install this bad boy

OK... Now I have everything ready. Got the engine mount modified and installed, Drilled the new hole pattern for the new motor mount location, the filter box is installed. A few pics of the rubber grommets that hold the filter box in, still need to get the nut to secure it, but I am pleased at how it turned out. Covered the hole left in the intake tube. I think I am ready..... hopefully I will install the engine and tranny this weekend I have a 3 day weekend so I should have it in soon.

Finally some real progress! Put it in last night, no real problems which scares me! but will use the next few days running fuel lines, wiring and odds and ends like that. Still waiting for the harness and ECM from W4M. One step closer!!!!!! Looks right at home in there!
