Maybe yours was a full time four wheel drive. I know later years came that way.
I was wondering if that was the case. If that is the case, then at some point, some previous owner put manual hubs on it because that's what it has now.

Re: Blazer SPID thread?

I don't think the full time hubs came in until after 72. Not sure if 73 was 1st year but my next door neighbor had a 76 that was. I would have thought it would be on all the 4x4 spids 72 and lower.

Locking hubs were available as a factory option, dealer accessory, and aftermarket. Absence on the SPID means it was shipped from GM without them - in your case the hubs were engaged by flanges 24/7.

Re: Blazer SPID thread?

Pete,
Good to know. I was under assumption none were full time until after 72'.
Have you ever seen one without the locking hubs? I would be interested in seeing a picture as I have never run across one.
Richard

Hi Richard - I was perplexed about this once upon a time so posted this thread here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=458491

The post has pics of a pickup without the front locking hubs. I haven't seen a Blazer so equipped yet. Seems like most had the locking hubs added over time.

Not to hi-jack, But does anyone have a pic of a 1/2 ton drive flange?, I thought it was only a 3/4 ton thing.

Would like to know as well...I just assumed that without optional manual locking hubs the K5 would have flanges like my K20 did but have never seen an example...

Re: Blazer SPID thread?

Locking Hubs were of course optional.
The D44 axle used a hub cap (literally) to cover the end of the wheel hub enclosing the drive flange/drive gear and axle snap ring.
Here are some clips from the 68 and 72 service manuals to put a little perspective on it.
The caps should be nearly if not identical to the caps used on Full-Time/NP203 square bodies (pictured). The drive flange is something I'd need to dig for to find a picture. Just about any part-time conversion article for a NP203 1/2 ton ride should have pictures of the flanges.

No its a complete joke.
The only thing that MIGHT be correct is the VIN
CE141B631761. Even the wheelbase is suspect considering the model number is a 3/4 fleetside with a typo. All bets are off that they even had an original SPID in front of them while typing this mess.

Being as this describes a pickup was it on a Blazer?
There are specific threads for Pickups and Subs/Panels too.

*Post Your Pickup SPID* *Blazer SPID* *Suburban/Panel SPID*

Furthermore, the 205 case and the Dana 20 case have a 2 wd position, the full time trucks 73 and up did not

This is listed on Craig's List in the Dallas, TX area. 1971 super C10, not a Blazer.

I just purchased this bare bones Blazer and here's the SPID. Not much there but I do have a question about one of the items.
1AS310 - is the rear seat option
but what is
1AN310 - Heavy Duty Auxiliary 'WHAT' Battery?
Thanks for any help.

RPO AN3 is the passenger seat, which was an option on base model K5s
