Not a good idea to zip tie your plug wires together like that. You CAN get crossfireing.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

I have one like that on my chevelle and all the plastic to metal clip points broke in a month. I replaced it and the one on a truck with this one, think its a Mr. Gasket or Accel product. Keeps everything nice and parallel and off the valve covers and headers.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Found out (in a non-destructive manner) that engine starts while automatic transmission is in drive position. Lokar shifter for TH350. There must be some type of adjustment for the detent mechanism.
Anyone got the scoop on this?

Nevermind....................I found the instructions.
Hey, I can't be the only one who normally just throws the instructions away.

installed new weatherstripping. my old weatherstrips were installed backwards. you have to see that gap between the top edge of the door and the weathertrip. if its flush against it, its backwards

Chevyman, this is just my opinion, but you might want to think about getting a double spring like this. You spring looks like it is stretched already so you might even need to add a link like I did to keep from over stretching it at full throttle. The link also helps keep wear off of the spring ends.

^looks like you got the same springs and bracket I got. I have the other spring. Is the double spring the correct way? did you make that extension yourself or is that available at the auto parts store?

Gas tank in and hooked up, all fuel lines in place. Steering wheel, turn indicators and horn installed and working. Radiator and hoses done. All new wiring done and everything works! Note to self: Next time buy a new wiring harness instead of doing it yourself : ) Fired it up for the first time since we tore it down for the frame off. Started right up and runs great! Next up is a fan and new break lines...

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Received headlight adjustment screw kit from Florida Auto Fastener off ebay. $11 including shipping, local "parts" store wanted $3 each, I got 8. Nice repair project I can do in the warm house on the kitchen table....

Yes, use the double spring. One is for safety, if one breaks or comes off...Jim

The link is just a piece of scrap steel that I picked up and drilled a couple of holes in.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

I bought these signals a while back.
They are chrome plated cast aluminum and very sturdy.

I made some little dies and made some clear lenses from lexan,
and will use them as backup lights on the 53 chevy pickup.
