Re: 1986 suburban build with 6.0l swap

Any updates on this? What kind of MPG's are you knockin down? How well does it move the Sub around town?

Reason I ask is because I'm considering the same swap into my '88 K20 Sub.

Re: 1986 suburban build with 6.0l swap

I'm alive! I have not updated this in a LOOOng time. The Suburban is still underway. I opened shop doing lsx engine swaps for people around town and it keeps me pretty busy. one thing that I have done is I just assembled a new 6.ol for the burb. I refreshed the bottom end and installed a set of LS2 heads and a cam. It should have plenty of torque now

Re: 1986 suburban build with 6.0l swap

Great truck! I was studying your build for a while, it convinced me to start planning my ls swap into my 87 suburban.
Glad to see it running! It looks like it came in the truck!

Re: 1986 suburban build with 6.0l swap

OP,

I ran into the same clearance issue with the engine's crossmember. The front left side of the oil pan is too close for comfort.

I've got an '82 truck with a swapped in LS6. Just hitting you up and seeing if you had came up with a solution for it.

Btw you did pretty good for yourself with this build.

Thanks.

Re: 1986 suburban build with 6.0l swap

Ordering the parts for my build now. Going 6.0 lq4 into an 87 R20 Suburban 2wd.
Will the 2wd have the same oil pan clearance issues as the 4wd?
If so can anyone recommend an oil pan?

Re: 1986 suburban build with 6.0l swap

No clearance issues with 2wd so stock 6.0l pan will work fine
