Re: Project 69SWB
That's right! Thanks!
Thank you. I just want to know when I'm done that I fixed EVERYTHING! Thank you! I would have gotten further this weekend, but as it is I'm still waiting on the Cab Corners from Tabco... and since I still have to order the stuff for the drivers side, I think I'm going to get my rockers from them as well. |

Re: Project 69SWB
Scott, I got the driver side Cab corner in from you today. I think the priority mail tape was the only thing that kept that box together!! This is how it arrived. hahaha!
Can't wait to get it home and match it up to the others I have. Also I appreciate the Chevy logo on the box.. That's awesome! Thanks again man! :-) |

I finally got the passenger side done this weekend. The Tabco cab corner took a little persuasion but went on much better than the others I bought. It was the right width so it does not flare out in the back and also allowed me to butt it up to the cab floor nice and flush. Re: Project 69SWB
That top part of the pillar came out nice. So glad I don't have to replace the other side like this. It was a real job... Lots of welding.

Re: Project 69SWB
The rocker went on and fit really good. I had to make a couple little cuts an bend here on the front to make it fit flush.

Re: Project 69SWB
The Tabco corner and the Key Parts rocker from LMC doesn't match up real good at the bottom lips but I can play around with it a bit and make it transition nicely. The gap came out nicely here but I'm still thinking about welding it up and smoothing it out.

Re: Project 69SWB
Watching you do all of this from your garage is awesome, and doing work that makes YOU happy is the key. I'm daily driving a 69 lwb, but i know that in a couple of years i will be doing some similar repairs. Keep it up.

Re: Project 69SWB
The undercoating is done.
Here's all the stuff I used. First I washed it all up with some Eastwood Fast Etch & Metal Prep and then used Eastewood's PRE to wipe it down. I let it all soak into the seams and air dry with a fan on it overnight. I then used 3M Seam Sealer and sealed up anywhere I had done welding or had gaps. I also welded up the gas line holes.... so it's now official -- I won't be putting a tank back into the cab. :-) After the Prep & PRE Last edited by ~Whitey~; 03-03-2013 at 07:05 PM. |

Re: Project 69SWB
I stuff cotton into all the holes where bolts went so I didn't accidentally get Herculiner into them then I laid down the first coat with a brush because I wanted to make sure I had enough Herculiner and also that I was able to get it into places the spray gun wouldn't fit. Also I broke out my headlamp so I could make absolute sure I was getting good coverage while doing the brush coat.
Total I used 2 quarts... The brush coat took just under a quart. The sprayed coat could have taken less, but I just went ahead and used it all up. I just went at it in sections.. DAB DAB BRUSH BRUSH STIR STIR REPEAT! Last edited by ~Whitey~; 03-03-2013 at 07:02 PM. |

Re: Project 69SWB
I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I've used Herculiner on a couple Jeep tubs before and knew it was a good product. The texture came out great in the spray coat using the Harbor Freight texture gun, the smallest nozzle, no thinning, and the compressor on 35psi... I let 2 hours elapse in between coats.
I still have to spray the UV protection.. I'll post another pic after that... Got bored waiting, so here I am. Have to let it all dry a few hours before I can do that. Last edited by ~Whitey~; 03-03-2013 at 07:08 PM. |

Re: Project 69SWB
Wow man that came out really nice, that wont be rusting again for a long long time.
A suggestion if I may, I noticed you are using a UV topcoat, since it will never see any sun you might want to use a less expensive product on that part, and save the UV topcoat for another application. |
