Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
It's pretty hard to find an original tailgate that nice, let alone for FREE! That was really nice of your wife's uncle.
Sometimes you just have to focus on just one small task, and then when it's done and looks good it makes you feel good about having got it done. Gotta just keep chippin away at it.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
I think your kids bike needs some whitewalls and some 16" ape hangars. That would be cool.

The group of non-driving trucks is growing. . I might have over looked it, but what is your plan/goal with the truck.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
originally the plan was weld up the holes in the firewall, rockers, floors, corners, vintage air install, clean and paint frame in front and rear of cab, paint under the hood, re-seal and paint the engine, 700R4 install, paint inside the cab and jambs, all new rubber..... now thinking pull the cab too, paint or powdercoat the entire frame, new wiring, plumbing, rear gas tank, basically everything but the body and paint on the outside. We want to have it back together to cruise it next summer and work on the body and paint the following winter. might be a bit much to get done by then, we shall see

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
That sounds possible, as long as you have the time necessary to accomplish it. As it sits now you have a fair amount of work ahead of you....but we're all here to encourage you. Oh, and don't forget to post lots of pics along the way..... I couldn't resist that......

Good luck and keep us updated. Oh yeah, I'm off work next week and I'll check out those belts and holler at ya. |

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
6months to do all that? Heck I've had mine roughly 3months and I've only taken the bed off and painted the rear frame. Imagine how far I'd be if I ran your schedule.
I'll be watching this thread some more. |
