Re: 56 shop truck build
dubie, It looks good. This is the stuff that has little air pockets in it, right?
Did you consider using Peel 'n Seal I wonder? If so, any particular reason why you didn't? |

Re: 56 shop truck build
Hey Dubie, your really going to love the wifey for putting that sound deadner in. I have also noticed that I get quite alot of heat radiating through the floor boards. That material should help isolate that heat.
Whats the diameter of your fan blades? How close does it come to the contacting the front crossmember? I have a feeling I will need to switch to a mechanical fan once I install the AC condenser...... |

Re: 56 shop truck build
The only reason why I used this is because I couldn't find the peel and seal. This should work to take that tin can sound out of the cab which is what I was after. I'm going to double it up on the inside of the fire wall to prevent to much heat from coming through from the engine.
Right now, my fan will hit the cross member so I'll be installing an electric fan. I'm going to raise my engine by 1/2" to help with the tranny /pinion angle so if it gives me enough clearance after I do that, then I'll leave it.

Re: 56 shop truck build
this weekend was all about wring and upholstery. I was working on the wiring while the wife was busy starting the door panel and head liner work.
Doing electrical is like reading Russian to me, but this Rebel kit is pretty easy to install. I am having a little trouble figuring out the dash cluster, so if anyone has wired their truck with a Rebel wire kit and have any pictures of the back of their cluster, I'd sure appreciate taking a look at it. This weeks goals are to finish the wiring, install the fuel tank and run the line, and if all goes well, fire the engine this weekend.

Re: 56 shop truck build
I have taken a few days off of working on the truck to airbrush up a beer fridge for the local biker club that is holding their annual rally in May. Just need to shoot the clear coat this weekend and call it done. Now I have a set of 1939 Ford hub caps to pin stripe

Nice work on the air brush, if you would be coming south every now and then i would hire you for the pine stripes on my truck.

Re: 56 shop truck build
pin striping is an art form in itself. Something I haven't done much of for the past year or 2. The last one I did was an entire Bombardier, man, what a GIANT pain in the ass that thing was.
But thanks for the props on the fridge.

Re: 56 shop truck build
the wiring is taking longer than I initially anticipated so I'm still plugging away at that. I hope to have it in the bag by the end of this week so I can move onto the fuel system

Re: 56 shop truck build
Ogre, my truck has no options in it. I'm leaving the radio in the dash but not hooking it up. I'd rather listen to the sweet sound of this nicely built small block. There really isn't much to wire up but I want to do it right the first time. I know once I hook up the power, there will be a couple wires I have in the wrong spot but we'll figure it out.
I have many talents, but electrical isn't one of them Thanks for the props on the airbrush work guys. I'll post up a shot of this fridge once I bury it in 4 coats of clear and buff it up

Re: 56 shop truck build
Thanks Kim, it keeps my hands and brain busy.
I finally got back to making some noticeable progress on the truck. I received a rad from Chevette the other day and had to make a set of mounts for it. Here's the first part of the mount. I'll be making some rubber blocks to fit inside the channel to act as a cushion for the rad. I need to thank Chevette for reaching out and helping a fellow gear head with his build. He knew I was looking for a rad and sent me this one for the cost of the ride. Much respect!!!
