Re: The Hillbilly Deluxe dually build
We transferred the title into his name on a Friday afternoon. He went on a camping trip after leaving the courthouse and never came home. The next week we got a change of address confirmation in the mail that he'd had his mail (and the title which was coming in the mail of course) to a new address.
I won't air too much dirty laundry here but it's been quite a strain on my marriage. Both mama being embarrassed and ashamed at her sons behavior and the intensity of my reaction to the screw job I got. All of which leads to my next project, to be debuted soon. He did leave what was left of his previous truck when he ran off. Fortunately the title was in mamas name. She gave me the remnants of his old truck and and title as her best option as a peace offering to make right her sons behavior. It's a pretty junky truck. I was actually going to part it out but decided to build it into something cool just to spite the bastard. Posted via Mobile Device |

Sorry to hear that Kevin. Stepchildren certainly present their own challenges. Mine from my first marriage were, uh, interesting. I have some charcoal interior stuff if you need it, too.

Re: The Hillbilly Deluxe dually build
We will get through it I'm sure. I really adore Valerie and wouldn't want to be without her. I'd give up 1000 of those pickups to keep her my wife. I just have to mostly keep my thoughts and feeling to myself over the whole deal. There is no good to be gained by talking about it with her. She is mortified at her kids behavior and any further dialog only serves to rub her nose into it.
You guys will shake your head at this next build using his truck as the basis. I can squint my eyes and see the final product though. It's also the first project I have done that Valerie is vocally and vigorously pushing me to do. She says it will heal my sore feelings and she's been super motivating to me on the whole deal. I think it's her subconscious way of making amends. Sent from the psychiatrists couch via Mobile Device Last edited by Tx Firefighter; 02-21-2013 at 05:00 PM. |

I didn't catch the joke, but I'll be watching. Since you started this flatbed build I've seen a half dozen that caught my eye...never would have before.

Re: The Hillbilly Deluxe dually build
I understand raising step children.
It ended my marriage. Love all your builds. If you can build a cool 1-ton cab into a sweet 1/2-ton swb, you can do anything. I've been following your detailed build threads for a long time. I see a 4/6 dropped 73-87 stepside project in your future. I'll be signing up again. I really liked your 69 or 70 big block stepside you had years ago. Posted via Mobile Device

What truck did the little peckerwood get? I followed the 63 Farm Truck build. I must of missed one after that.

Re: The Hillbilly Deluxe dually build
Brand new GM crate engine with about 700 miles on it. All new Moog suspension rebuild (600 dollars worth of parts), properly lowered and all powder coated (Belltech), new BF Goodrich tires on powder coated rally's, stainless Magnaflow exhaust front to back, every single A/C component new with genuine AC Delco parts, and every single piece or part in the engine compartment either new or fully restored and powder coated. Re: The Hillbilly Deluxe dually build
Unreal for him to take the truck like that. Build the stepper, enjoy every mile in it...it will make you feel better.
I REALLY liked the 54 or 54 Chevy you had years ago, the orage one. I really wanted to buy it, but funds were an issue at that time.

I'm proud to say I was one of the first guys to do the suede paint deal. There is a picture of it in Rod & Custom back in 2000. I had driven it up to Kansas for a show and the magazine people thought it was neat that I drove it so much. I had to, it was my only means of transportation. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: The Hillbilly Deluxe dually build
One of my favorite project threads. I love the attention to detail.
My goal is to be able to do small powdercoat jobs one my own stuff, what do you recommend for a good setup? I've been doing research and I'm getting all kinds of different answers... Keep up the great work. Wish my '86 C30 had TBI |

In for this. That inexpensive (cheap?) kit at Harbor Freight + a used kitchen oven looks interesting to guys busy shaking rattle cans.

Your title caught my eye. I like 1 ton dually flatbeds. You do great work. Sorry about your step son. My step son is a great kid.
