I agree x3. I have a Q-jet on all of my rides. The best ones are the ones made from 1975-80. My Malibu starts like it has fuel injection.

Re: POLL: Holley? Q-jet? or Edelbrock? Let's finish this once and for all!!!!

I voted for Edelbrock because thats what my old C10 had, and I thought it was a pretty good carb while tinkering with it. We have a 52 Ford F6 with a 2 barrel Holley though that gets the job done.

My true love though is the Rochester Monojet.

Re: POLL: Holley? Q-jet? or Edelbrock? Let's finish this once and for all!!!!

I would have to say that the qjets are really good for a cruiser, nut the problem is that they are getting hard to find in good condition. The throttle shafts get worn and then they start to earn thier name quadrabog. The edlebrock has been working good in its place, and nothing beats a 750 double pumper on my chevelle, but it is a little thirsty.

^Basically he's saying he shoots a Weathrby because he likes how it performs, even if ammunition is expensive, and bigstrapperpete uses a double pump carb because it performs well, even if it does guzzle gas.

He nailed it! You don't bolt on a Holley for fuel economy. It's all about performance. You don't shoot a Weatherby for economy. It's all about the smackdown at 300+ yrds.

'course now I'm into reloading so the economy has improved and so has the accuracy.

I don't shoot a Weatherby (good looking rifles) because they are way overpriced from the factory and other bolt actions perform as well or better, the price of ammo is ridiculous compared to other cartridges that perform just as well, and sooner or later one or two of those small multiple lugs is going to let go and a guy may have the back end of a bolt in his face. Cannot see anything to be gained by that extra expense, and maybe some loss.

LOL.......do you feel better? BTW, Mine's not this new crap. Have a German and a Southgate. I also reload so the ammo expense is minimized too. When my Dad handed it down to me, what was I supposed to say?

If it had been me, I think would have said "Thank you very much Dad, these are very nice rifles and valuable on the market. I much appreciate your generosity".

However, I would not have felt compelled to use them. After reloading for 45 years and shooting many different cartridges, I well know the performance capabilities of various cartitridges in whatever bore they might happen to be - and also know their "smackdown" capabilities. Most Weatherby cartridges do not perform at optimum efficiency/effectiveness for their caliber.

On a more serious note, I have read cases and talked with some experts about lug stresses and failures of that bolt design - not a joking matter. Weatherby was somewhat ingenuous but his forte was marketing, and he sold the dickens out of his unique rifles. All to the good, unless a guy winds up with the bolt blown back - as have some.

For a 4X4 you gotta go with a Holley Truck Avenger. They run great right out of the box!

LoL.

Yeah but see if the OP had phrased "Which performs better...." then maybe Holley would have a chance.

Maybe!
