Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Oh you aren't far from Elk Grove at all. I was just down through Lodi to day actually. Went to Cherokee Truck Parts to get a bumper for my friend's Peterbuilt.
Ya that picture of the two pieces is deceiving haha I thought it was the high hump too! Well if you ever have any questions on rebuilding what you have let me know I can hook you up with the place I use, Crackaway Engine Machine. They are up here in EG and they do AWESOME work. Are you going to be going to Kingdon this weekend??

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Did you decide which way you where going on the motor? New or rebuild the one you have? Did you get that high hump installed?

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Yes, i went with a new GM crate 350 3yr/100k warranty at my local chevy dealer. And i will run break in oil with ZDDP and after for the flat tappet cam.
I just took the high hump to work today to clean it in the blast cabinet and then i will fill/weld in the shifter hole and install this weekend. I found a new seat out of a 95' silverado for $45.00 on CL and it fits great, so i will take it to a local guy to have it recoverd like the red one in the 2nd pic below. All the dark grey will be burgundy viynl and the light grey will be the light red cloth. I sealed up my rearend and put some fresh Lucas oil in also. Thanks for the comments everyone... |

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Hey DRTYRAT30 thanks for posting the pics of the trans humps, I wasn't sure which one I had, now I know.....high hump. I'd never seen the difference before. I'll be doing the Porterbuilt thing with mine so it looks like I've got the right one. Love your build just wondering who will get done first, you or Delmo?? You guys are FAST!! I used the same breather on my quickchange too!

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Nice Work! What do those PB hinges use to support the hood up? Are there gas shocks under the dash or something? What kind of wheels are you going to run? I really love what your doing with this truck!

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Porterbuilt has the gas strut option for the 67-72 hinges and i think soon he will have them for 60-66 trucks. The ones i have will require a hood prop.
I am having a tuff time deciding on wheels, i might go with two sets/styles 1. 15x7 painted smoothies with WW's and bullet caps. Like this pic but with bullets caps 2. 22x8.5 Boss 330's in chrome just so i can use the PB kits to the fullest. |

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Watched the Eastwood video and these look so easy to use. Very impressed with your work so if they're good enough for you they're certainly good enough for me. Ordering!
Anything special you used for line mounts or just the std rubber-lined sheet metal type? |

Just the rubber clamps in 3/16" and a pop-rivet. They worked very well for me.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Beautilful Work!!
Nice to see another N. Cal. 63 in the area. Mine is much to be desired right now.... since I had my daughter I havent been able to work on my 63 in many months. Looking over your thread really builds the motivation factor though. Keep up the great work!
