Re: Whats up with Logan...
Does the engine roll over?? I see missing coolant lines. You might want to pull the plugs and dump some PB blaster into the cylinders. Either way it will not hurt and will clean old gunk off the pistons tops and such. Give me a call at the shop when you have time. here is the tx number 682-647-1141

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Good score on the "new" engine. I understand where your at with him not being motivated. I had the same thing with mine. We did not really get on his with his help much until about 6-8 months before his 16th birthday after he went thru the 14 year old slump. I just kept messing with the truck so progress could be made and we did get it together and took it to a show about a month after he turned 16. He will come around.
I might have to look guys up next time I could see my folks in Fredericksburg. We have a place out on Hwy 290 about a 1/2 mile east of the KOA camp ground east of town.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Yeah holler at us...The new engine is getting him going again... We have to wait for the guy to get back from his cruise before we can pick it up...He will enjoy this part. We have an engine test stand that I used years ago for a V8 Fiero project. Plus my wifes "Rocker Moms Hotwheels" Camaro on the back burner and fixing up a Jeep Cherokee for my daughters first car...I need to win the lotto so I can get some stuff done...Ugh...

Re: Whats up with Logan...
I need a bellhousing to bolt a starter to...I think the stand will need to be modified...The stand was built for building Caddy motors to go into Fieros...

Re: Whats up with Logan...
i dont think you need a bellhousing to bolt up the starter . i have a home made run stand as well and never used one. it just bolted straight up to the block.

I think I said earlier in this thread, I wish I would have found him a cleaner truck to start with...The body needs so much work and now after removing the gas tank, theres rust behind there...We had just moved from Michigan where everything is rusted out to Texas and grabbed the first deal that came along...My fault...Ugh...Oh well, we'll deal with it... |

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Hey guys...Its Logan's dad, Paul...
We've been off the radar for a bit and I wanted to check in with y'all...Nothing has been done to his truck and hes been really frustrated. I do have some good news for him but I wanted to get all of your input on it first before I tell Logan. I sold a parts car that I have, the guy picks it up tomorrow. Anyway, I didn't get but $600 for it and I want to get Logan started again...The body is so rough so I was thinking about trying to find a decent bed for it. Am I very far off price wise? We do still have a V8 and all the parts you guys gave but hes so overwhelmed by the rust and dents. |

I am too far to be any good, but would suggest EBay, Craigslist and similar sites to get an idea of values.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
I second TJ to but everybody is different. But my feelings are the sooner you are driving and enjoying it the more likely you might keep on working on it. It only takes a spark and bam you're back in the swing.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Yeah that was the plan all along, to get it drivable but then to have $600 to use to make a difference, I wanted to check in with all of you first. It does need brakes all the way around and shocks, etc.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Paul, I agree with the others, get the brakes and suspension done and get that V8 put in and drive it! Rock the dents and patina for a bit then start on the body work and paint.
I hope to be doing my '65 next year. Plan is to get my '85 GMC put together and sell it to help fund a new shop at the house.
