Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Sorry for the long time between posts. I farm so we have been very busy all summer. Nothing has been done on the truck. I still drive it on the weekends.
I just bought another truck, not a 67 Rick but very close. I love those old 4x4's Tell me what you think. It is an unusual color combo. |

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
I agree guys. This winter I will do some more work on the 67. Jud I would love to get those a/c parts. I don't know about the 68 though. Ha
You see the 292 on the spid of the 68. I think it will outpull the 305 in the 67!! |

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Clint, in my 67 GMC brochure it lists the 305 V6 as 157 net HP and the 292 I6 a little less at 153 net. The torque of the V6 is 263 net and 255 net on the 292. So it probably comes down to which is tuned up best, gearing, etc. All that is based on the 67 brochure though so maybe they increased the performance of the 292 for 68? How'd you find the 68 by the way? Not as rare as your GMC but not a common truck either.

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Thanks Jud. I always wondered what the hp and torque differences were between these two motors. I see it was not very much. You are right it just depends on which is tuned best. My gmc needs a little carb and fuel pump work.
The 68 was on the internet for sale. I am always looking for 4x4's. It is very hard to find one here that is still in original condition. Most were destroyed on farms and hunting clubs. This 68 was sold at Shellabarger Chevy in Casper Wyoming on October 14 1967. It still had all the warranty info in the glovebox. You said that you have the gmc brochure. All chevy 4x4's that I have came with at least 16 inch rims on them. Does your brochure say anthing about rim sizes in it. My 67 gmc has 15's on it and I was wondering if that is correct for the gmc's. I want to put the correct looking skinny tires back on it, like on the 68. |

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Guys I have been busy at work lately. I thought I was gonna have some time off over the winter to work on some stuff, but that has not happened yet.
I drive both trucks all of the time Rick. I have been sharing a shop with my dad, but now I have a shop that I dismantled. Just have to get the concrete poured and the building put back up. I want to get that done before I start on anything. The extra room is what I need for those truck resto's. The 68 chevy is just gonna get painted, nothing drastic. My blue GMC needs a complete frame up resto. Thanks for the compliment on the GMC 71veronica. I really like the GMC's too. --Clint |

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Great buy. I wondered where the shift sticker was to be placed. LMC could only say the cab. Does looking at it on the ceiling make it appear in reverse order?
