Re: How Much Interest: 13" Big Brake Upgrade

Is that spindle modification something that we will be able to do on our own, or will we have to buy the spindles from them? Can you get some pics of how that bracket bolts to the spindle?

You do your own spindle mod which cuts the costs for the kit. I don't have further pics @ this time but will be taking some as I install a 'kit'. I'll keep updating.

I will also be supplying them w/the dimensions for the truck rear housing ends by the end of the weekend. The push is on for 13" C5 rears!

Re: How Much Interest: 13" Big Brake Upgrade

So what does this "kit" come with? The hubs and bracket? I assume the rotor and caliper/pads are off the shelf type stuff?

BTW... THANK YOU for doing this for us. Maybe they should be called SCOTI brakes!

Billet hub & CNC brackets are the main items to make it work. Everything should be available separately so you can build it using the hubs/brackets & used parts if that's your direction. The rotors wouldn't be a direct swap because C5/6 are car pattern vs truck pattern. There's some extra work to make it happen.

I'm just the guy providing feedback & helping w/the details...... The manufacturer will make the appropriate introductions once they're closer to being production ready. Thanks regardless.

Sweet! Any idea about compatibility w/ a drop spindle? Also, why the blacked-out caliper? Hiding the "K word"? Does it use the stock dust shield holes?

They will move to drop spindles next. The idea was the need to start somewhere & the factory spindle is the easiest (most logical choice).

Yes.... the 'blackout' is to limit exposure until they wish to promote the product line themselves. They are attached to the spindle like most aftermarket kits (no need to reinvent the wheel there).

I will be trial fitting prototype kit #001 to a set of OE spindles, then some 3" BellTechs & 2.5" Western Chassis spindles. McGaughys & DJM's will possibly follow. I don't believe any other brands will be tested (these seem to be the 4 most popular choices).

What did that 'kit' set you back if I might inquire? I would also like to know what was included in their 'kit' (what specs rotors/calipers, hub, etc....?).
PM if you don't wish to announce it to the world.

Cut off the original caliper 'ears' & do some clearance grinding. How much to grind will vary depending on which rotor/caliper set-up is chosen.

I'm waiting for a big brown box for now . . ......

scoti, so you are going to be buying all these aftermarket spindles and cutting off the ears?

What's the deal with the rotors studs? Are those threaded in the pic?

I already have the BT & WC spindles & will determine what to do on the other brands after I play w/these.

Yes on the studs...... They're threaded ARP fasteners.

Re: How Much Interest: 13" Big Brake Upgrade

I assume that these won't clear a 15" wheel correct?

That just means I'll have to wait until I get my wheels before I get the brakes, cause it's just a roller in the garage now on pos 15" stockers.

Here's an idea . . ....

C5/C6 Bracket Kit- GM TRK/Tall Spindle (w/hardware) 85.00
C5/C6 Billet Hub- GM TRK 72-87 (w/bearings, seals, caps, ARP studs) 349.00
C5 PBR Caliper Kit 295.00
C5/C6 A/C Delco Ceramic Pads 69.50
Front Brake Line Kit 60.00

C6-Z51 DBA-4000 Rotors (13.4" x 1.25" w/5.00 x 4.75 + 5.00 pattern) 396.00

Shipping/Handling w/INS 78.00

For a total of $1332 & change. This is w/upgraded rotors. Base C5/C6 rotors aren't as much (and aren't as good). There's also options for drilled/slotted rotors if you're so inclined.

The LT spindles has not been confirmed yet. The only spindle the 'kit' is known to work w/is a stock HD spindle. I will be testing on Bell Tech & Western Chassis drop spindles for HD brakes in the near future.

I'll post up pics once the kit is received.

This looks to me like the only things you absolutely need from this kit. The other stuff may be able to be sourced elsewhere cheaper. They even give you the option on their website of ordering as many or as few parts as you like...
