Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Wow that is really nice. I see you still have the numerical paint markings on the firewall too. One of the best features of this site is the presence and acceptance of a wide variety of different build styles. There’s everything here from pure stock to bagged customs. The membership pretty much embraces all of them.

Plainred65, that is an amazing truck!! Welcome to the forum!! I really like the low option trucks as well since the truck that got me into 64-66 C10s was plain with only heavy duty springs and a 292 as extras. Hope to see more of you and your truck, we need more of your type around here!

I agree. Very nice example of the way most '64-'66 were sold back in the day. As stated in other threads, a lot can be learned from these time pieces. Example, the original base model seats used on '64 and '65's, fawn with cream color borders. '66 base model seats used a different pattern without the cream borders.

Factorystock, you rule. I must be dense because my level of observation is not near what yours is. The 64-5 cream/fawn detail had escaped me entirely, but I see it clearly now upon review...derrr.
Anyway, glad these details get noticed and brought to light by somebody. Eventually we may compile enough info to actually aid in an accurate restoration effort. Keep it up, eh?

They are Daytons, biased belted, I have the slip and forget when they were purchased, maybe late 70's, but they were on it when I pulled it out of hibernation.

The urge is strong, but I think I can hold out!

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Well....I've posted a few pic's of my '66 4000 GMC on a couple other threads..
But it's in pristine..(at least original) condition.
As stated earlier...some bigger trucks out on the farm stayed under cover most of the year.
Mine was spec'd by a Berry Farmer in Corbett, Oregon....at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge...it was in the barn except for about six weeks a year, at which time it made multiple "sorties" to the "Smuckers" or "Scenic Fruit" warehouses...here in Orient..then back to the barn for an oil change and a shot of grease.
The "Big Truck" odometers are six digit spools showing the hundred thousand
column.
She says 097,??? miles..
Everything works, right down to the low air buzzer.
Note the fawn colored firewall....and the silver/gray interior.
The first 4 pic's were before bringing it home.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

I was wondering when you would start posting some pics. I really miss this truck, wish I would never have sold it . However, it definately seems to be in good hands. If you want to check out the link below, it's from when I posted it on here before. If you go to post #16 OEM4ME has some questions for you.

Not really, this is the way Chevy V8's in this era came from the factory. A lot can be learned from an original low mileage vehicles if you are into accurate restorations. A few years ago, many on this site did not even know 327's and 292's were green, 283's were gray and 230-250's were blue in trucks up to 1966.

Beautiful truck Juan...

Okay...one of you OE specialists..
I haven't spent that much time around '60-'66 Chev's...I'm more checked out on the GMC's.
So I have a couple silly questions...maybe one of yous can clarify things fer an old guy...
First..Was the white lower panel under the dash bezel correct...?
And were the hood hinges & springs galvanized/silver..?
And...my '63 has the manual throttle cable, and it is located directly on the right of the column, next to and level with the ignition key...spaced like the rest of the knobs. Is mine in the wrong spot...?
