Love the video!

How did you mount the camera for such stable shots?

Its a go pro 1080 hd camera with the motorsports package.

It has rollbar and suction cup mounts for different angles.

They take really nice video for the price ($225 on amazon)

Truck is in the shop for Hooker Header install and 2.5" magnaflow kit.

rear .5" blocks are made to drop the back a tad.

I also have new front/rear CPP sways I need to throw on.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

WOW!! Look at all those awesome toys and that is one heck of a shop!!

Are you routing the exhaust under the trailing arm crossmember? If so, any concerns about it catching speed bumps, driveway curbs, etc?

I'm installing a 4/6 drop and have the magnaflow kit ready to install as well but I'm contemplating selling it since I have an aftermarket trailing arm crossmember with cutouts for the exhaust and I don't think I can route the prebent magnaflow that way.

I would say that depends on your wheel/tire combo. With my 20's and the 4.5/6 drop I have never been close to hitting my frame. Honestly I don't think I will have any issues but when my truck gets torn apart I will be doing a tubular cross member and re routing the exhaust through.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

Looks like yeller will be coming home any day....

The magnaflw exhaust has been on for a while. They dynoed the truck with the exhaust and it made 11rwhp more than the true dual glass packs.

I imagine I will gain another 10-15 to the wheels with the long tubes.

Hard to rush good free work in the same time frame as Power Tour 2012. The did take some very nice shots of my truck and I think they might use it for some sales ads.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

I have been pretty busy with a new toy.

I have always been a fan of the 2dr/2x4 Tahoes so when a buddy of mine called me and said it was time for his to head down the road I had to jump on it after a little negotiation

Its a 1998 with 124K miles. The truck has been well cared for and he is the original owner. Interior is new and it has a belltech 4/6 kit with rear helper bags.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

First order of business was replacing the junk 14 y/o factory radio/speakers.

I tore the whole truck apart and fat matted the back half and the front doors. I had planned to do the whole thing but the carpet kit was glued down and I wasnt about to ruin fresh carpet.

After that was done I made a small purchase from amazon for speakers and used the alpine PDX amp and HU I had lying around.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

I buttoned up all the wiring and made a box with a flush mounted amp rack. Chose some cheap RE Audio 10's as this was a budget build (Under $375 cash $$ not counting the nice deck/amp I had) and I was pretty surprised at the sound from $50 subs running offf 350 watts.

New Alpine Type R components sound decent for the $170 spent (There not hertz or Focal)

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

Next thing to cross of the list was wheels....

People are going to call me weird but I have never been a fan of Torque thrust wheels....just too played out imho

After some searching I gave Dave Coy a ring and Settled on some C5-7's. I have never really beeen a fan of a staggered set up but after looking at some pics I decide on 20x8.5 front and 22x9 for the rear. since this will be a driver I spent the extra $$$ and went chrome...lol

So here are the wheels on new Nitto rubber with the 4/6 drop. The street is actually making it look a tad lower than it really is.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

So the secong I bolted them up I knew it needed to go lower or I would never be happy....

Quick call to grunion fab and new 3" springs and a shackle were on there way.

She is now at a 5/7.5" drop and looks perfect.

Took her to a show I had registered the 69 for (see above 69 in shop) this past weekend and she got alot of attention. Peopple either understand what these things are or wonder why a 98 is at a classic show....haha

Only other plans are a little tint on the front windows and keyless entry.

They revisited the kit as the original truck they develped off had headers. I believe they are going to now make a manifold back kit?

Headers were kind of a pain as one of the bolts going into the head was broke by the PO and jb welded. They had to fix that and then make a different mounting bracket for the AC compressor.

Gotcha. Ya I had to make a couple brackets for my accessories too when we put my headers on. I guess when they advertise that it's a simple bolt on for my year it really isn't. LOL
