Getting the hood and fenders fit now. Will need to do a little work to get gaps right. Cowl panel needs some work too.

Started getting moldings mocked up and ready to drill all the holes. Any advice on hole size and approach for the clips would be great

Great work! Looks like you moved on with mounting the body moldings. Any advice on hole size and approach you have concluded now that you've had a chance to work through the install?

Re: 71 C10 6.0 LS ground up build

Got the tailgate band mocked up and the holes drilled. Also worked on panel alignment this weekend. The body shop has been great about having me be part of the work.

Body came off Friday and primer was put on cab and front end. Pretty pleased with the epoxy primer.

Re: 71 C10 6.0 LS ground up build

I used stick on clips where there was no access to put a nut on back side. Holes I did drill I drilled 1 size larger than the threaded stud so moldings could be moved around a bit until aligned. The spots where there is a screw going through to hold them I drilled 1 size smaller than the screw for a tight fit of screws. Hope this helps.

Low A/C mount question?

It looks like you used the Alan Grove / Vintage Air low mount A/C bracket and Sanden 508 compressor designed to work with the stock accessory drive. This set up uses the rear stock belt for A/C only. Is that correct? If so, any clearance issues with the brackets and/or compressor?

I am planning on running this setup on my LS6 and 1968 C10. I was hoping to find someone that has made it fit before ordering the parts. Mine will use the corvette offset instead of the truck but other than that would be very similar. Thanks in advance.

Re: 71 C10 6.0 LS ground up build

My bracket came from old air products and uses the stock configuration for belt. I did clearance the frame a bit to make everything fit.

Your panel alignment looks great. Control arms look good to, kind of wish I would have went with something tubular on mine.

I like the full molding package you're doing. Great mix of OEM look, but with engine, trans, brakes, and suspension right up-to-date!

Re: 71 C10 6.0 LS ground up build

How did you fabricate the fuel system lines? Can you take a pic of the lines coming off the engine to the frame?

Thanks,

Smitty
