Thanks.
Great build.
You need the old camaro headers so that they clear the frame rails and motor mounts other headers will hit the frame rails. Even if you have a 91 Iroc motor you will still need the right headers to fit your frame. I guarantee iroc headers will not work.

I see, so even though the Flowtechs are for my year engine, your saying I will have a clearence issue with the frame. Interesting.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Bagged.. wow that was a LOT of work... welded 3" bag cups into the lower control arms today. Crossmember is 2" off the ground, but I havent installed my drop spindles yet so it will work out perfect when they go in. Still need to install my front shocks, but I ran out of time today.

its got about 1" of rake with the tires that are on it now. 215/70R15 and 235/75R15 rears.

Looks Awesome! I love the white roof, really big improvement and definitely compliments the baby moons. You know I might just have an extra set of rear cab trim if you're interested. It just wraps around the back of the cab where the 2 colours meet. Let me know if you're interested and I'll take a look.

I am definately interested. Hopefully it would sort of line up with my two tone paint line. I just guessed where to mask it off

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

A few more pics from my iPhone.... I made a quick cover thats raised up 3" for the bed floor. Had some old plywood shelving at the shop that matched nicely. Had to raise it up to clear the rear diff. I had orig cut out the floor planning to step notch the frame, but since I couldnt find anyone to make me a proper step notch, I went with a 3" pipe notch instead. Good enough for now.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Thanks man. Installing the bags sure turned out to be a lot more work than I had expected. I orig thought maybe I could get it all done in one day, but it turned out to be about 18 hours work so far. Prob gunna be another 6 hours to do all the disc brakes and drop spindles, ball joints etc. I guess if you didnt do a c-notch and weld in lower control arm cups that would save you a lot of time. I also messed with shocks and CPP pan hard bar and lowering blocks. At least its almost done...

Now I am having an issue with my Accuair manifold. One front corner is going up slower than the other. When i press the front up button, the pass side lifts about 1.5" before the driver side even starts to lift. I think I need to take the manifold apart and clean it. I think I might have go some locktite or a piece of dirt stuck in there. Pain in the ass. Hopefully I can fix it without having to send it away for repair. I check my suspension and nothing is binding. Im gunna have to pull it out one day next week when I have time.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Bought some slam specialties ss7 bags for the front end today. Those dominators balloon out WAY too much and are just barely contacting the sides of the control arm cups. Not driving the truck until the issue is resolved. Dominators will be for sale soon if anyone in the Kelowna area wants a basicly new pair cheap. Either that or I'll just have to bag my 78

Whoa! I have Dominator 2800's ordered for the rear, with Porterbuilt trailing arms, crossmember, etc. Surely Porterbuilt has scoped out the difference in the SS's and Dom's under pressure, and knows they won't rub. Wouldn't you think? They still offer the SS7's, they are just more $ than they used to be. From what you see in your fronts, what do you think--will they clear ev on the rear?

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

There's lots of room in the rear. I think you are ok. I have 2 or 3 inches around my rear bags easy. I'm just short on space because I welded in those 8" drop cups into my control arms. The Dom 2800 will be a lot bigger than my 2600's though. That's a big bag unless you are hauling a camper or towing with it.

It's a C30 with trailing arms. It will have to occasionally take a load.

No I don't. It's just a section of 6" dia heavy pipe that was cut in half to make two c-shapes. Marked it out, plasma cutter and then welded them in top and bottom, inside and out. It's just temporary until I do a proper step notch.

I like looking at that stance and paint scheme, i was originally going to go with that exact paint setup for my truck until i changed my mind last minute... I like it! Good job so far.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Thanks. I really like the old faded baby blue. I'm not going to paint it until I have to. I just added the white roof and trim to break up the big blob of color. I'm happy with how it turned out. I might do the body below the trim satin white also, but only because I need to replace one damaged rocker panel and it will need painting. I'm holding off on that until next year though.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Got the front end down a little lower. Sits with a slight rake now. Good enuff until I get my drop spindles installed but I am in no rush. I want to iron out the bugs in the air ride and get my height sensors installed first. Hopefully my slam ss7 bags will be in tomorrow and I can swap those out in front to fix my clearance issues. Then I can actually drive the thing!
