Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
That is some mighty fine work there guys, glad i could be of help, on a side not, for the steering column we use all the stock 96 chev column parts, we just cut/moved/welded everything, we were even able to reuse the stock boot to the cab ro keep the elements out, worked out great. As for the brake booster Don figured that we should use the stock one, it worked out awesome, good job Don.Well i am glad to say that i am proud of our work. can not wait to see what you two get done this next week!

While I was doing that Dad mounted E brake and cable, then worked on wiring harness hole in fire wall. Then repaired panel for inside of drivers door post.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
Looking good, ebrake upgrade cleans up the firewall and engine frame. Mid 70 truck ebrake will work to and mount higher using the hinge bolts.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
Well everyone, i have to say something, or i guess kinda embarass someone. But first a story. I will try to make it short.
When Tyler's dad was 17, he had bought a 1 year old 76 Trans Am. Mandarin orange, 400 4 speed and it went thru more tires than he could count. Well the family came along and he had a tough choice to make, you all know what that is. Well 30 years later Debbie (Tylers mom) asks me to find anoth one for his 50th B-day for him without his knowing. So i search and search and search. Finally find one and we get it. Has the 4 speed still but no motor. Not a big deal. A year goes by and it is stashed at my farm 2 hours away. All this time it is still a secret. So to deliver this new T/A to him for a weekend we have to pull the wool over Don;s eyes as i have no truck to get the car with at the moment. So for the month prior to his birthday i asked him idf i can borrow his duramax to bring my 68 to edmonton to get it dyno tuned by my buddy. Well Don was all over this. So the day before his B-day i go get the truck and pick up mu buds car trailer. That day, me the wife and Tyler go to my farm and load the car up. We leave his B-day to go to his place. He is out fertilizing but is in the yard for a bit, debbies phones us and askes where are we, we tell her and she says "To put that pedal down and make that duramax work, get here before he leaves!" You do not have to tell me twice. we get there as he is just coming outside to leave and the shock on his face was great, he hated us then loved us for what we did. No one has ever kept a secret from him and Debbie did for a full year. way to go debbie. Sorry for my long rant but i just had to say this. Congrats Don on being 17 again and you know we will all be here for you on your new found youth and we will get this thing done and running. BTW ppl the car will look original and is still gonna have the 4 speed in it, with a 3.42 posi and a 427 that don has. I think his new goal in life is to beat me in my 68 and Graham in his 69 camaro, the other build i am doing. We will see about that.

All I have to say is he is a lucky. Its not many people who have family and friends as cool as that. He has a heck of a wife and you are a heck of a friend.
A man should judge his wealth by his family and friends. Last edited by Kabwe; 02-03-2010 at 07:52 PM. |

It has been a few weeks and afew more things have been done. I managed to get the wipers working using wiper motor out of 96 Chev 1/2. Tyler has been coming home on weekends to work on the truck has been doing alot of sanding. We have been looking in every old yard and salvage yard for eyebrow for this truck and finally found one. Here are a few pictures.
