Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

Then I welded on the patch panel using my gauge to set it in place.
,
,
,
,
,
,
I built the gusset to go inside the channel of the pillar to add a little extra strength to the connection.
,
,
,
Here is what it looked like welded into place.
,
,
,
,
,
And finished off.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

So then I fabbed up my "B" pillar patches.
,
,
,
And welded them in place.
,
,
,
,
And then I finished prepping the eighth inch thick inner rocker panels,
,
,
,
,
and welding the left one into place, which is where I ran out of time, so I'll probably weld the right one on in the next day or two.

Nice job on the pillar patch, that hole jig looks like a much better deal than taking sloppy measurements and beating my head on the wall. Your B pillar looks pretty sweet too and it fit! unlike the taiwanese version. I haven't got my B pillar in yet maybe this weekend.

Ammo is getting too expensive for my .308
those rear curvy windows are $150 locally (same as 4dr wags) only one is missing, used ones have the classic yellow bubble effect between the panes though. I found a "new" supplier for those out in cali and they quoted me like $450 each? i think. they said they would consider shipping but no guarantee on breakage but they could bring some when they come back for another auto show.

Nice job on the pillars !

Thanks Dieselwrencher, stout is what I"m shooting for! I figure that the eighth inch steel will make easier to weld to. (no burn through's)

Yeah it works great, just be sure not to bump into it after the end piece is cut off.

Thanks rustbuket, I liked what you did with Georgia, I just didn't have a floor brace or inner rocker to set my "in, out" dimension with, so I came up with the washer on a rod jig. That B pillar piece was a pretty easy fab, I have a bunch of 18ga. with a 90 deg. bend (3/4 inch lip) just kicking around that I can cut small pieces out of. My brother has a "Magna Bend" (totally freakin awesome piece of equipment) so when ever I'm over there I always bend up some extra 18ga. just for such an occasion. (lucky me)

Nice work with all the new metal Wade. Sorry for your bad experience with the trash can company. I have had my share of trouble with the parts they sell more than delivery issues.

That Magna Bend looks pretty sweet, Ive looked around at getting one for home use and that would be great, they have a similar chinese one at tractor supply. I use 135 ton hydraulic press brake at work but sometimes they get a little snarky about making personal projects.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

Thanks for compliments on Magna Bend (and my brother thanks you). He also has a plasma cutter just in case I go completely nuts and start working on a total basket case!,, (Mcbassin)

Update on Tangerine,,,, I didn't get a whole lot done over the weekend,,,it turned out to be one of those weekends where everything I've been putting off finally catches up to me. I went in and worked on it tonight, I patched in and smoothed out those panel gaps at the corners of the windshield frame. (what a lot of work!!) Special props to "theastronaut" (board member), (frick'n mad skilled genius!!!) for some insight on this body work. And I repaired some rust in this area.

I know that some of you guy's are getting anxious to see this cab merged with the floor/firewall, so am I. It's real tempting to put them together now that both inner rockers are in place, but now is the time to get all the tedious body work done while I can easily reach all these area's that need attention. Hang in there a little longer, I'll get this stuff knocked out pretty soon!

Yep,,,been working like a mad dog on her. Like I said before, this is not the kind of work I'm use to doing. I've been going slow, trying not to make too many mistakes. Plus I'm engineering on the fly as I go. I welded in this brace on both sides to help support the cowl and fenders because I've cut so much of it away.

,
,
,
,
I finished up the transition between the drop panel and the cab corners.
,
,
,
,
,
And smoothed out (the gaps) and repaired rust around the windshield.
,
,
,
,
,
And I smoothed out the overlap lip at the back of the cowl.
,
,
,
,
,
Now your pretty much caught up, I'm still in the process of fixing a few dents and other body work. Like I said I'm kinda slow, but I don't want to do this again anytime soon, so I'll keep plugging away.

Side note; I sold my seat (I'll be using the Yukon seats) to a guy that works in the same building as I do.

He re-upholstered it and put it in this truck, it's for sale.

It has a small block that's been dyno'd at 485 h.p. and has a 5 speed racing trans. Pretty nice truck. ($11,995)(208-746-7040)
